I just started the Epilogue on EBC. I'm going for the 'insanely overpowered' deal, because I've never done it on EBC. After I get level 75ish and beat it, I'll move on to my next game.
I can't decide between Grandia III or Dragon Quest VIII(I finally caved and fixed my PS2, curse Sony for the laughable $600 PS3). I liked Grandia II, so semi-leaning towards Grandia III. Any suggestions from people with experience in these games?
WD isn't really out of business, it's just sleeping. Yeah, that's it. Sleeping...
Really enjoyed Xenosaga, Ep. I, so I hope you're having fun with it as well.
.......
As for the question, just recently finished Ratchet & Clank, R&C: Going Commando, and R&C: Up Your Arsenal and had a blast in the process, I could hardly bring myself to put them down at times -- excellent games all around. Now that I've completed those, Valkyrie Profile is up to the plate.
I was able to track down VP about a year ago after having my eyes on it for as long, and I've just not had the chance to play until I fired it up yesterday for about an hour. "Cannae wait" to jump into it full force.
I like the Grandia series and was interested in Grandia III when I first heard about it. What are your impressions of the game, Zophar? It seems like the series went downhill after Grandia II.
So far Grandia III is pretty good. I can't really say that much about it yet since I haven't beaten the game yet. The graphics are pretty good (especially outside fields and forests, those places are very well structured and look pretty.), the combat system is interesting. I especially like the aerial combat system and how if a special move levels up or if you learn a special move it doesn't cost any SP for that round. It's one of the few RPGs that have an active time gauge combat system.
The music is alright, some songs are good while one or two made me wince. Especially the music in the Baccula settlement. The battle music isn't really catchy or interesting. Hopefully the final battle music will be better.
I would recommend it if you are looking for a good RPG. I am not sure how it stands as a Grandia game since this is the only Grandia game that I have played. But since it was made by GameArts, who had part in the creation of Lunar I figured that it coudln't be all that bad.
Thanks for your input. I haven't played any solid rpg's in a long time and I need the proper fulfillment. Stories as engrossing as the Lunar series are such a rarity. I was curious about Final Fantasy IV because I've never played it. I have Final Fantasy I&II but I never finished playing the first and I didn't even touch the second game. I just lost interest in playing the game because there was no story to motivate me to play, and the random encounter rate is annoying as hell.
Uhmm, at the moment I'm waiting to get my EBC from amazon! But, I've been playing Crono Cross and Trigger(PSX) to make the time go by!
I've also been playing EB (sega-cd) on and off. My Hiro is a very low level and I'm at Zulan so its pretty hard seeing as to how he dies after every danged battle >.<!!
As of right now, playing Star Ocean: Till the End of Time.
Silver Phoenix, if you want to play some decent RPGs, there's the Suikoden series. It's one of my favorite RPGS to play, next to Lunar. The only problem is that finding the first and second Suikoden, as the prices for them are huge in ebay.
