Xenogears

Okay, after hearing about this game for years, I finally started playing Xenogears. My friend Eric (the OTHER Eric) got it for me for Christmas... I have never seen so much plot in such a small space of time. I'm only about 14 hours into the game, and yet about every 15 minutes something new intrigu...

I didn't find the Father Christmas thing abrupt at all, in either the book or movie. If you really look at the story from a child's perspective, it works very naturally that he should appear there - especially since Father Christmas is really an embodiment of good will and the happiness and warmth a...

I actually saw King Kong this weekend. As a film, it's actually VERY well done. Peter Jackson has actually created a very exciting and wonderful movie. One of the best points of the movie is actually the interaction between Naomi Watts and Kong. It's a lot different than the original version. What h...

I saw it opening night with the other Eric. We both really loved it. Tilda Swinton wasn't exactly what I imagined as the White Witch, but I ended up really liking her. The lady in the BBC version kind of annoyed me because she was so one-tone. Like when she was sweet to Edmund in the first scene, it...

I was having a weird day, that day. It was displaced anger. And, on a different note, anyone who expects a movie to meet their expectations from a book is kidding themselves. This is not because films are worse, or anything. This is because the director's vision of the book is always going to be dif...

Sonic, I was just amused that The Two Towers was actually about the one tower. Though now I'm confused; I thought the second tower in the book was where Shelob was and Sam and Frodo get separated, and that's what wasn't in the movie. However, every time I read the books they totally fail to stay in...

My impudent car

This is what I have had to replace on my toad of a car since August: -Transmission -Radiator Hose -Thermostat -Water Pump -EGR Valve -Catalytic Converter -The Radiator itself -The Head Gaskets -Had to patch some antifreeze leaks And now, to top things off, the alternator needs to be replaced. MY CAR...

I have dealt with a TON of debt, and so I know exactly how you're feeling. But working in the world of investments and money, I can tell you that their claim that business is ONLY done through phone call is not true. And if you request, in writing, that they not contact you via phone, I do believe t...

Yeah. It's been a long time since I've seen the movie from beginning to end, but if I remember, the mother really didn't deserve that death. What made it so disturbing is the fact that her daughter is sort of an outcast socially, and Kate Winslet's character becomes her only close friend, so it's so...

Heavenly Creatures

::shudder:: I just caught the tail end of Heavenly Creatures last night, after not having seen the movie for about 5 years. To this day, the end of that movie disturbs me. SPOILER: Has anyone else seen this? It was a movie directed by Peter Jackson (before his Lord of the Rings days) that was Kate W...

My conversation with Ghaleon would probably go something like this... Ghaleon: Maureen's performance is tonight. Me: I know. I helped Joanne repair the reverb on the mic, and we tangoed and sang about Maureen. Ghaleon: I'm Ghaleon, but you can call me Angel Dumott Schunard. Me: Sweet. I need $1000, ...

When one of two things happens:

A) When Nebraska actually takes an interest enough in culture to create enough demand that can support professional (instead of community) theatre.

B) When I move out of Nebraska

Another play

Sweet! Sunday, after our performance of "Hamlet", the guy who's playing Hamlet wanted to talk to me for a few minutes. He's one of the artistic directors at this theatre and he's directing the next production, which is a comedy called "My Three Angels". He asked me to do one of the lead parts. I wil...

Yeah, Francisco is just a bit part in the first scene. He's the guy on guard who freaks out when the other guard shows up and scares him.

And Osric is a fun character. I get to pronounced the word "carriages" as "khhharry-ahhges".

I'm going to fop till I drop.

production of Hamlet

Well, I'm in Hamlet, and we open this Friday... I'm a little freaked out, because our costumes person has seemed a little flaky, and she just sent an e-mail letting everyone know they'd be costumed by Wednesday...which is weird, because generally they're supposed to have the costumes (at least mostl...

Semblable will go on there when I get to it, Jammy. =P

And FYI, this script is actually quite different than Semblable. It's one of my few totally serious plays. There are some surreal elements, but there's nothing bizarre about it, really. The characters are more or less realistic.
