I got about 5000 on normal. Got to the next-to-last level too, but there were both the flying and fast ones going at once, so... they swarmed through.

That's a nice set-up you got there Jenner. Mine was a series of the pellet towers set up in a very long maze with about eleven sniper towers. XD It was a whole world of haet.

I was about 4 levels away from winning before I finally died. I used the maze tactic, but used nearly all pellet towers, a little bit of missles, and a tiny but of surface to air missles. I imagine I would have gotten a bit farther had I invested in the rapid firing gun and the slower gun.

This set up here killed the end boss of the game.

the four pellets right in the middle are snipers and the four on it's flanks are snipers too, the missle towers are level 4. :D The only things that got past me were the planes and the plane boss. (With 30HP left)

would have done better if I had upgraded more.

Aye. I think if I made more mazes I'd do better.

I tend to overemphasize one or the other. The past time or two, it's been upgrades. I usually do the shiny ones, don't do enough surface to air, and then get slammed by the last arial one.

I like yours, Jenner. It gives me ideas.

Do you built center to the edge, or edge to center?

I built fromt the left-side outwards, making sure that my missles could reach so that clusters were taken down better. Until the stronger planes around level 43+ I had no problems shooting down planes with the squirt guns and the pellet guns. the four pellet towers in the center of the board can shoot to one side of the screen or the other and give a great defensive advantage. :) adding a few more squirts would probably do me better. I'll keep working on it.

I played it extremely competitively when I was younger, but had been out of it for 8 years or so. Anyways, the first game of our new session (after moving up from Mens 3 to Mens 2) was tonight. I scored all three of our goals. We lost, but that's because we had 1 sub vs the other teams 5 subs and just ran out of steam at the end. But hey, I've never gotten my name on one of these lists before, so I want to brag. :P I got a hat trick! Though really, two of them were gimme goals that I just had to tap in. GET OUT OF MY TOWER THREAD JOCK!

My latest Oppressive Maze of Bullets incorporates more sniper towers and better placement of dart towers. The plane boss is STILL the only boss that can get past me. If I expend the energy putting up swarm towers and a frost trap to kill the Plane Boss I always lose extra lives due to my uncompleted maze. Once I figure out how to do it I'll pos tup a final rendition and then try hard mode.

I would post a normal time, but I can't quite get past it. Suddenly too much stuff moves through at once, and the flying things... and twice as many...

But easy mode wasn't too bad. I did a variation on Jenner's theme. Don't underestimate a fully upgraded squirt tower. Two or three in one (ambush) spot are worth the cost.

I wasn't doing so well (crapped out at 35 or so), since I was focusing more on making a maze and not upgrading until I'd already filled the board. Also, my core group was Squirt Towers--no Pellet Towers.

Now I think I'll shift focus to Pellet Towers and upgrade them. Maybe lighten up on the maze part to compensate.

Oh, also, check this out: http://www.almostgaming.com/

Intregueing stretegies and mazes, I must copy some of these designs and attempt to see how well I do.

Ok, I finally beat it! With only losing 3 lives, too (one I think was to the flying boss--but I beat the level 35 boss that has like 30,000HP, and the end boss!).

Here's the formation I used, "Tuning Fork":
Image

This involved some strategy, too. Normally, creeps would move right through the gauntlet, then go down and curve back to get around the row of low-level splashers, then curve back again towards the exit. If they were towards the end and still not dead, I'd place a Pellet Tower right below the Dart Tower, blocking the exit and forcing them to turn around (going around the north side of the 'fork'). If they got to that end and were still alive, I'd erase the previous Pellet Tower, and build another one on the opposite site right above the other Dart Tower.

That way, I could keep an enemy running back and forth as long as I needed. This required a bit of skill when there were 2-3 levels on there at once. Flying enemies could circumvent this, but most of the firepower is centered along the middle so they typically weren't a threat, either.

Now I'm trying to replicate this, then see how to apply a similar strategy for the Normal level. KF

Here we go!

Image

It's an improvement on the previous "Tuning Fork" formation, though with the "drawbridge" approach of closing off the exit at the last second to force the creeps to go all the way around. You can see me using it in action against the last boss (even though by then, with 4 Typhoon Towers at the end of the two central columns, he was almost dead at that stage).

Besides beating it, I also kept all 20 lives, meaning not a single one got through. Now it's time to kick it up a notch to Normal. KF

Woo! I won normal mode mostly duplicating the method Kiz posted from his website (almostgames.com). It was an instructive time, and I think I see how it works (AKA - not making TOO much of a maze... and using pieces that complement each other as far as causing damage, not too many specialist ones, and ZOMG Typhoon Towers).

I got 5741.

And I like your method, Kiz. I wonder if you could manage to tilt it 45 degrees.

You've sucked me into your time wasting you bastards. :P

3764 and lost my last life on the final boss. I'll try again tomorrow. I need to build more mazes. I concentrated almost too much on upgrading.
