Re: Speaking of Unfortunate Last Names
That would be a horrible last name, especially if it was given to a girl.
I've seen some pretty weird last names working at the hotel, but its been so long, alas I can't remember any.

As immature as it is, a lot of people made fun of one of the Star Ocean FD v/as whose name was Dick Smallberries.

I knew a girl with the last name Tickle who's father had the brilliant idea of naming her Tess.

Re: Speaking of Unfortunate Last Names
I recently had occasion to read a resume by someone whose last name is Luna and whose first name is the Spanish version of Alexander... I'm phrasing it that way because the guy really doesn't need this post to come up if he's in the habit of Googling for his name. But I thought you would all be amused by that.
Have also recently seen the name Bob Roberts, and am reminded of a name I used to see in TV credits, Marcy Carsey.
Here's a site that's more in tune with the actual intent of this thread:
Baby's named a bad, bad thing
And, for general interest, Popular baby names

There was a kid in middle school that made fun of me whose last name was "Fink."
I'm not a vindictive sort, but it was like candy falling into the lap of a ... well, me.

A friend of mine was in the army and on one of his gate-guarding duties came across a man named Shithead. He said that even before he was handed his ID, the guy told him "It's pronounced Sha-theed". (I hope that doesn't get censored....)

I saw a Lunarish name myself the other day. I forget where exactly I was, but there was a sign-in sheet. What name did I see on it? Re: Speaking of Unfortunate Last Names
My last name is very unfortunate. Everyone asks me if I'm rich because of it. Alas, I'm probably one of a very few with my last name who doesn't have any attatchment to the wealth.

Re: Speaking of Unfortunate Last Names
I was just perusing a list of Hugo nominees today, and the names of the editors of Locus caught my eye: Charles N. Brown, Kirsten Gong-Wong, & Liza Groen Trombi. All of those sound like they'd be difficult names to bear, at least as children.
Re: Speaking of Unfortunate Last Names
I can easily imagine an entire class snickering at "Gong-Wong".
