Yeah, I heard about that too. Birds are really smart for animals with such small brains. Makes me wonder what dinosaurs were really like.

Eh, I think the Human has vastly underestimated the intelligence of animals for a long time.Werefrog wrote:Yeah, I heard about that too. Birds are really smart for animals with such small brains. Makes me wonder what dinosaurs were really like.

A large contributing factor is that we so often attempt to humanize them which lacking (For the most part) a moral social order makes them seem like mindless beasts.Mog Dragonheart wrote:Eh, I think the Human has vastly underestimated the intelligence of animals for a long time.Werefrog wrote:Yeah, I heard about that too. Take dogs for instance. Overall they are very intelligent animals (Some moreso than others obviously), but they are made to be seen by humans as stupid simply because we refuse to use our own brains to understand the language they use.
We are simply lazy and seek the immediate gratification, heck even watching this is immediately gratifying. Finding the intelligence in animals which don't do a neat trick, such as tool use, takes much more work, but makes you appreciate the marvel of their existence so much more.
They said that on Saturday evening Arsenius used to turn his back to the setting sun and stretch out his hands towards heaven and pray until, at dawn on Sunday, the rising sun lit up his face, and then he sat down again.
