I have never heard of a VG being recalled for bugs but it has happend in Japan. (in Feb I'm pretty behind w/ my VG news as usual) http://wii.ign.com/articles/107/1071446p1.html

Huh. This is the equivalent of a game being patched after-the-fact, which is kind of standard for PC games these days. I think the only unusual thing is that it's rather unheard of for consoles--well, consoles before the PS3/360 generation where console games are starting to acquire all the negative characteristics of PC games. I remember this. I also remember a few years back the Tales of Destiny Remake on PS2 was indefinitely delayed for a short period of time RIGHT before its release date. Because of some sort of catastrophic bug, if I'm not mistaken. Destiny Team, what up?
