And I've never heard of Americans having anything against Canadians. I should know, I'm about to marry one. :? There's nothing particularly odd about having Canada listed separately; there are a lot of Canadians on mostly-American sites, what with having the same region and language and release dates and all. So this is recognized.

What's this thing with Canadians thinking that everyone in the US hates them? KF

Hates? I wouldn't think so. Makes fun of, maybe. A few times I-Gene bristled at something totally unrelated to generalizations or stereotypes or images that I said because he was expecting to hear something like that. This completely puzzled (and hurt) me, because I had no idea that there were any such stereotypes, etc. He knows better now.

Other than saying "Eh" a lot and having a slight accent, I can't think of much. Though even the northern states have this accent. My mom's side of the family comes from South Dakota and they pronounce their o's different. Instead of about it's "aboot". I think there's a few sports rivalries between teams in the US and Canada, but that's all I can think of.

:( Now im' even more confused... what has Finland to do with it?

Finland don't like canadians? :?

By the way, people here in brazil do think of a lot of american stereotypes too... Some of the most popular ones are (this really isn't my point of view) the fat white guy, the "gringo"(a rich tourist that speaks whit a LOT of accent) and the vilain of polution that don't care about the world (i guess this one really increased it's popularity after the news about USA not signing the Kyoto stuff...

About the canadian fun-of, when i read it, i instantly remembered South Park cartoon... i guess there was no reason for them do have the heads split in two... but the comments about it were hilarious...

Finland don't like canadians? Confused

You said that Americans dislike Canadians and French, while in reference to the poll and how Canada was listed seperately. And in response, I said that the person that created this poll was from Finland, not America.

Sorry guys, I had to this once South Park was mentioned. I hope I got rid of all the bad language in it.

Sheila: Times have changed
Our kids are getting worse
They won't obey their parents
They just want to fart and curse!
Sharon: Should we blame the government?
Liane: Or blame society?
Dads: Or should we blame the images on TV?
Sheila: No, blame Canada
Everyone: Blame Canada
Sheila: With all their beady little eyes
And flappin' heads so full of lies
Everyone: Blame Canada
Blame Canada
Sheila: We need to form a full assault
Everyone: It's Canada's fault!
Sharon: Don't blame me
For my son Stan
He saw the darn cartoon
And now he's off to join the Klan!
Liane: And my boy Eric once
Had my picture on his shelf
But now when I see him he tells me to<edited>
Sheila: Well, blame Canada
Everyone: Blame Canada
Sheila: It seems that everything's gone wrong
Since Canada came along
Everyone: Blame Canada
Blame Canada
Copy Guy: They're not even a real country anyway
Ms. McCormick: My son could've been a doctor or a lawyer rich and true,
Instead he burned up like a piggy on the barbecue
Everyone: Should we blame the matches?
Should we blame the fire?
Or the doctors who allowed him to expire?
Sheila: Heck no!
Everyone: Blame Canada
Blame Canada
Sheila: With all their hockey hullabaloo
Liane: And that <censored> Anne Murray too
Everyone: Blame Canada
Shame on Canada
For...
The smut we must stop
The trash we must bash
The Laughter and fun
Must all be undone
We must blame them and cause a fuss
Before somebody thinks of blaming uuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuus

I'm in Dania, FL, a suburb of Fort Lauderdale. I moved here from Palm Beach (which is about an hour away, and where my parents still live now) not too long ago.
