Critique wanted - Vane Sunset (Dyne and Ghaleon)

Post by Nobiyuki77 »

I speed painted this today. 6 hours is what it took in Photoshop CS. Please critique, I'm trying to push myself to achieve better things.

Nobi, you should be ashamed of yourself! Everyone knows MY famous painting I made 10 years ago and you completely ripped it off. If you all want to see the "original" look below.

Nobi wishes he could make something so amazing.

Don't worry, I added mountains and clouds so it's a TOTALLY different piece! ^^

I plan to make a few improvements based on some crits I've received, but it'll probably be a few days away. Busy busy.

Love the Four Heroes love. <3

The Blue Star looks like it's closer than the sky, though.

Updated the piece based on some of the critiques I've received. New critiques and thoughts would be appreciated. ^_^

First error I noticed with this picture is that they're not making out, you'll need to fix that.

Second thing I noticed is the complete lack of lens flare. You're gonna need to put some lens flare in there, you can't call yourself a real artist without some lens flare.

Finally, the ground is TOO ROUND for me, like they're standing on a katamari or something, it seems too odd and doesn't feel like natural terrain.

Questions:

Where's the sun? Where's the light source? Why aren't they making out?

^ Seriously, why aren't they making out??

But otherwise, looking really great. ^_^ I kind of miss the 'wide open spaces' feel of the first version, but I think the elements interact better in the second.
