an anime series to watch. I just finished Murder Princess, and that was alright. I kinda wanna watch something a little more serious, maybe dark, bloody, something to mess with my head...or mecha. I dunno. Nothing chibi, nothing that 14 year olds would watch, ya know what I mean?

Does it have to be newer? You should check out Serial Experiments Lain. Chances are, if you're a fan of that genre, then you've probably already seen it..

Edit: oh yah, and Hellsing was AHHmazing also, but again I don't know what you've already seen..

From the same team that did Serial Experiments Lain, I highly, highly recommend Haibane Renmei and Welcome to the N.H.K.! Haibane Renmei in particular is great. Beautiful, dark, contemplative, slow to develop but worth every second. Easily my favorite anime. And it will mess with your head. (Added bonus: the music was done by Koh Ohtani of Shadow of the Colossus fame.)
