Nicole - One Year Ago Today
Hey, everyone.
I just wanted to post that today is the anniversary of Nicole's date of death, one year ago.
Eric and I went with her mom and grandmother to the cemetery. They brought some flowers, including stargazer lilies, which were her favorite.
The headstone is now up at her grave. It has a picture of her, as well as a beautiful engraved depiction of Arashi (one of her cosplay characters on the site) in a really beautiful pose.

Heh, I was expecting this topic. It's strange, I didn't know her at all, except for seeing her post here and there, but it really bothered me when she passed. I was looking around at old posts not more than a week ago, and her LJ, and when I noticed the date I was wondeing if someone would make a topic like this.

Well, I honestly have to say that I think about her from time to time, thinking. Yet I didn't realize that this much time has passed, I mean I should have known because I've been keeping track of time since I've lost my job and my apartment, so it's just odd that I didn't realize this.
Anyway, Coley, RIP.

BTW, it was strange, because I hooked up my Sega Saturn for the first time in like 9 months last night. I wanted to try Dragon Force on my new TV, but when I went to put the disc in the system, my Umi disc art Magic Knight Rayearth was in there. That disc was originally Nicole's. I traded my Fuu, that she really wanted, for her Umi, which I really wanted. It was just strange opening that up on that day and seeing that. I keep meaning to make a Lunar music video tribute for Coley, but haven't been able to because of my current computer setup. Hopefully next month.
BTW, Eric, how's her family holding up after a year? Hope they're doing alright.

I still think of her occasionally. She tried to introduce me to Tokyo Babylon and X, but I didn't quite get either of them. And so I can't hear about CLAMP without thinking at least a little bit about her...

The Arashi picture is very beautiful, too. I'll try and see if I can get her mother to e-mail me a copy of it to post here. It depicts Arashi in a very delicate and vulnerable looking pose holding a paper parasol.
And her family is doing all right. I don't ever really see her dad, so I don't know about him. But her mom is still holding up. I know she thinks about her all the time, but she puts on a strong face. Her grandma is usually the more sensitve one, often gets a little choked up when she talks about her.
This is the second time we've all met at her grave. Both times, her grandmother has asked me to lead them in a prayer around her grave. So it's kind of become a tradition.
It's very strange how I can talk about her factually in normal life and be okay, but the second I start leading them in prayer, somehow the emotions start pouring out there. I think I find an open vulnerability talking to God and talking to her and about her through God.
You know the show the Reannin Theatre Group is doing, my script "Acrobat"...we had trouble casting the female lead character...Well, I go for walks on my lunch break and I often think about the play, run through the scenes in my head, envisioning them, etc...Well, I paused the other day because suddenly the thought popped into my head that I wish she were here, because I think she'd be great in the lead female role.

I had no idea that she passed away! I must've been gone around that time last year. Wow, I feel terrible now. I didn't know her very well, but I always thought she was a wonderful person and I always LOVED looking at her cosplay pictures. Very lovely girl. I feel terrible that I didn't find out about this sooner.
RIP Coley <333
LuNaRtic...
If you find the cosplay section of lunar-net you'll find a memorial page to her which shows several of her costumes. I think you'd enjoy it.
If you were wondering what happened, Nicole committed suicide a year ago. She was suffering from a lot of depression in addition to several chronic health problems.
...
Also, just in case...
If anyone is ever out in southwest Iowa or east Nebraska and wants to visit it, Nicole is buried at:
Lewis Township Cemetery
It's on Highway 275 south of Council Bluffs, Iowa (the sister city across the river from Omaha). It's near a school called Lewis East, I believe. The cemetery is on the northeast side of the highway, built on the side of a hill, rising up from the side of the highway.
The grave is located, if you're facing the cemetery from the highway, on the right side, near the center (depth-wise). Her full name was Nicole Reannin Elgan-Moore, and it's more than likely the only headstone there that has a depicition of an anime character engraved into it.
Just for future info.

Thanks, Eric.. I just remembered that we used to talk a long time ago about meeting up sometime because she lived in Iowa and I'm in Wisconsin... I haven't thought about that in forever and just remembering now really brought back a lot of memories
