The world's most important poll: Mayo or Miracle Whip?

A lot has been made at work about the difference between mayonnaise and Miracle Whip. Those who favor Miracle Whip like it for its tangy zip, and dislike mayo because they feel it tastes too fattening. Those who go for Mayo generally can't swallow a sandwich with Miracle Whip, and say that it corrupts the taste of the sandwich.

I, for one, am NOT down with the tangy zip. I would rather eat a sandwich with dry bread than desecrate it with Miracle Whip. A little bit of mayo just moistens the bread for me and doesn't taste like much other than salt. I want my sandwich to taste like sandwich, not some tangy nastiness.

So, the question is, which do you prefer: mayo or Miracle Whip?

Mayo, definitely. Can't stand Miracle Whip and think it's the most revolting stuff ever. Though I guess I haven't had it since I accidentally put it in my cottage cheese when I was seven or so.

Though to be fair I only like mayonnaise in certain settings. It goes with artichokes, in cottage cheese, and in egg salad or tuna salad. Beyond that I have nothing to do with it -- though the best fried fish I ever had was fried in mayonnaise, now that I think of it.

Mayo. I prefer versatility, and Miracle Whip although it's fine on sandwiches is absolutely awful otherwise.

For vegetables, for instance, I liked sprinkling ajinomoto on mayonaisse then pouring some soy sauce on top. Freshly-grown vegetables taste great dipped in that. KF

What she said. Both are absolutely disgusting. I'll take plain mustard on a sandwich, or ranch on anything else (or a sandwich for that matter). Ranch is where it's at.

Miracle Whip for CERTAIN types of sandwiches. Mayo for other types and for things OTHER than sandwiches.

And Mickey...on the subject of mustard....yellow or brown?

Brown. Deli mustard, definitely. Yellow, blech. It'll do, but it's like eating a McDonalds burger compared to a home grilled one.

Mayo, definitely. I couldn't imagine a tuna fish or turkey sandwich without it. :P

Yellow. That doctored up Grey Puppon shite sucks. Seriously, plain mustard is where it's at. And it's good for you. Almost no calories, and it raises metabolism.

I actually hate them both.

Ketchup & Mustard are the tag team champions of all condiments.

Bleeeeh!

I don't like most condiments, but Miracle Whip and Mayo are both class A guaranteed to make me gag. Mustard is close up there too. Ketchup I can actually tolerate a little of, it's just that people use it on things so much, and I prefer the way things taste without it. Really, the only condiments I really like are most steak sauces (teriyaki, soy, A1), barbecue sauces, and stuff like that. Stuff that isn't overpowering to me, unless the thing's swimming in it.

Miracle Whip is always nice... but... I think mayo tops it (but not by much). So yeah, I vote mayo. Mmmmm... I remember when I would just slop a huge amount of mayo or MW on two slices of bread and eat it just like that, I called it a mayo sandwich! (sometimes I added tons of salt too =) )

Dude, I'm not TALKING about Grey Poupon, I'm talking about deli mustard, which is REAL mustard.

Yellow mustard is cheap fake mustard. =P

If we're choosing between Mayo and Miracle Whip, it's definately Mayo. Miracle Whip is nasty.

But, with all this talk of different condiments, I can't BELIEVE nobody's mentioned SALSA!

I think ranch dressing should be up there too. Ranch dressing is amazing.

Salsa, as well as other sauces, would be in a different league altogether. That's more than just a condiment...

Well, good salsa anyway. It's like making curry sauce, it's a full on recipe, not just a condiment that comes in a squeeze bottle. KF

Mayo and Miracle whip are both nasty. I like my bread PLAIN!! Except honey mustard is kinda good, sometimes..
Best sub ever = bread, ham, cheese, bread.
OR
bread, (very very little) honey mustard, pickles, tomatoes, lettuce, bread.

YUM!!

And ranch dressing is god. It makes my tastebuds love carrots. That is some crazy sauce cause carrots are nasty too!
