I can't say that's surprising; I'd put Magic School ahead of DS and I haven't played more than the first chapter or two.

I'm wondering how much bias there is toward the remakes due to newer fans who haven't played the originals. Or actually how the breakdown tends to be by age in general.

I've only played EBC one time, but for me it seemed to lack some of the magic of the old one...I don't know. I'm going to replay it soon though.

Heh, I had Shenmue at #1 and was the only one who had it in my top 20.

Hm... the top 20 games seem like very good choices, though it's no surprise the Lunars come out on top. ;) I'm rather surprised Shadow Hearts made the top 20 though. I always feel like Shadow Hearts fans are so scarce, even though I know there are a couple other people on this board who've played it.

To be honest, had Temzin and snaztacular put EBC in their lists, it would have won the top slot. I'm wondering if Temzin just combined EB and EBC since they're more alike than TSS and SSSC, but only he can say if it was that or if he really just didn't think EBC was worthy of the list. I only say that because he had EB as his favorite game, then TSS and SSSC, but not EBC. Snaztacular already stated his reasonings though, so SSSC probably would have won by a small margin anyways due to that. TSS had EB beat most of the way through though. That's not surprising, considering there's more fans of Lunar 1 than 2.

I was happy to see Skies of Arcadia make the top ten. I think it's one of the most underrated RPGs out there.

Me too! I would've put SH2, but I haven't finished it yet ^^; I just go past the awesome CG scene with the fight between Yuri and Rasputin. I really need to finish it soon! XD

BTW, I should have made a disclaimer that read I'm not responsible if my numbers were a few off. I stopped and started many times, and got mixed up once or twice. I *think* they're all accurate though.

I'm glad CT got marked above ff7... it gives me some faith in the gaming community...

I'm disappointed Ys book I and II is so low. I'm guessing only a few people on these boards have played it.

Yeah, I'd like to say I played them, but I was probably too busy playing Lunar when they came out :D

I'm surprised Tales of Phantasia is so low. It's my favorite game after the Lunar series.

Well, that's what I get for not voting. KF

That and many of these games haven't been played by people here. I haven't played either Ys Book 1 and 2 or Tales of Phantasia.

Likely due to the fact that it was never officially released for an English speaking audence, there is of course the translated rom of the Super Famicom version though.

Ys Book I and II is really just one game made up of a directors cut of two games (Ys 1 and Ys 2). It's not two seperate games in the traditional sense. Where Game 1 would end and game 2 begin there is a cutscene, your levels items and everything else come with you.

ToP's coming, though! The GBA version has been announced for US release. ^_^

Ys I and Ys II were released separately in the US on at least one system...Master System, I'm pretty sure. Rune can confirm since that's what she played. And I think I heard that just Ys I was released on NES, not sure. Keeping up with Ys releases is like keeping track of Lunar releases cubed.

I would have put them down if I'd been the one actually playing instead of watching, but I felt I should limit my list to things I personally did all the playing on.

Rereading, I'm realizing you're not specifically saying that they were only one game, just that Ys Book I and II is one game/release.

Ys II was never released seperately in North America (it's worth noting a PC and PS2 version of Ys Eternal was planned at one point , but both were cancelled in the US, fans did create an English patch for the Japanese PC version though). Ys book I was released in North America on SMS as Ys: The Vanished Omens. Ys I (and Ys II for that matter) was released on FAMICOM in Japan but not on NES. The combined version on the duo is also a bit different than the seperate versions (your stats carry over among other things). It's not just two seperate games released together in one package.

Yes, I know that part; that's the one I've played/seen. My point is just that the name doesn't refer to simply two chapters of a single game but to two games originally released separately which were combined for the TG release and thereafter.
