Gamespot Gives LSSH an 8.0

Post by Old_School »

I was on gamespot earlier today and noticed they had the review up:

http://www.gamespot.com/psp/rpg/lunarha ... ead-review

That's a higher score than SSSC got on the site.

Very favorable... reads more favorably than an 8, I'd say. It says nothing about load times. I very much want to take that as a good sign... yet, I don't remember any articles on the demo complaining about it either. Only a little longer to wait... ^_^

I also noticed that. The words in the review don't really match the assigned score. It's funny how it received all that praise and still got a lower score than Crisis Core.

Nice! Isn't Gamespot known as one of the harsher critics? If so, thats even better.

Don't forget that Gamespot also had the video segment with On The Spot/Daily Demo for Lunar:SSH so it's not surprising the score would be favorable. It deserves it after all.

What? But I thought WD's games "go to 11", so technically SSSC should've received an 11/10. :P

I'm somewhat confused why the reviewer would dock points for voicework, yet contradicts himself by saying even the more annoying voices are suitable for the characters. Either way, good to hear that the folks at XSeed didn't skim on the localization.

All I read was that the voice acting ranges from very good to annoying. That seems on par with the VA in the series as a whole.

Yeah, Lunar isn't really a series known for its fantastic voice work

Seems odd they didn't mention the loads. Could they have fixed that in the final product? Unless the reviewer got used to them before long...

But yeah, pretty good score. Good to see marks like this 8-)

Since I haven't played the game on UMD I can't vouch for this, but I can't imagine the loading is that unbearable. Of course I'll find out soon enough.

Surprise surprise, an RPG in a mainstream publication receives a lower score than a Final Fantasy game. Yeah...I'm a bit grumpy about the prevalent, almost inescapable pro-FF bias.

What really bums me out is I know there are going to be people who pass over reading the review and buying the game because, eh, it only got an eight.

It's not unbearable, and you kinda get used to it, but it's there. And most reviewers like to pick at things like that.

I wonder what the Famitsu score was in Japan, because people view that publication as a gaming bible.

Yeah, we never did find out the Famitsu score did we? I still can't believe the game is only 2 days from shipping. I should probably set that homepage Flash up to actual do something when the countdown is over...
