Lunar Threads

I was just informed that the full title of the game in Japanese is "Lunar: Legend of the Silver Star." I dunno about you, but I personally find this title better than just plain "Legend."

Any thoughts?

That title never came up in the game itself.

But I do think that's a better game title.

Alunissage told me about the game title, so I brought the subject here. But I wasn't sure if she would mind me saying that she told me or not. And that's the story. ^^'

Yes, he gets that. He knows who I am, and I posted it here, so it's not exactly a secret.

I'm going off memory, so for all I know I may be thinking of an early press release or something. I'm pretty sure I'm not making it up, but it may not have made it to the final game. Or some overeager PR person or newsie may have made it up. *shrug*

Edit: Googling "legend of the silver star" turned up about 426 hits for Sailor Moon...and two for Lunar, both in Japanese. One is no longer there, but the other is here: http://lab.vis.ne.jp/lunar/jyouhou.html

I remember hearing it too, though it wasn't in the final title. I don't remember where though.

I've heard that title in an article that I've read about Lunar.

Ok this makes sense then, looking at that site.

Apparently, when Famitsu first mentioned the game, they called it Lunar: Legend of the Silver Star--sounds like a small confusion between the original TSS and the Lunar: Legend title, is all.

Interesting. That does vaguely corroborate, then. Feel like asking at Lunarhope if anyone remembers that article? It's not particularly significant, but worth putting in a theoretical encyclopedia entry. One wonders if the name itself changed during development or if Famitsu just got it wrong initially. The high number of hits for Sailor Moon: Legend of the Silver Star suggests that the phrase originated there, but I know about as much about SM as a Meribian does about California.

I definitely like Lunar: Legend of the Silver Star better.

That's the first time I have ever heard about that. I agree that it is a better title than 'Lunar Legend'.

I think I remember hearing about the title myself...I don't remember where though...I thought it was here on L-net at one time but I guess not. Now I'm racking my brain trying to remember where!

I do think Legend of the Silver Star is a better title, though.

As far as I know, there is no canon Sailormoon with anything to do with a "silver star" in it, unless it's referring to the "silver moon".

It might be an online writing RPG or something, or perhaps a fanfic. I'm not sure.
