Lunar SSS sounds (Japanese, US)

Have you played Lunar SSSC on PS1? (what a question!)
Do you remember that sound the Dragonfly wing makes when you use it to escape dungeons?
Or the teleport field used to get to Vane?
You know, that cool, strange, crazy sound effect!

Would you guess it sounded really different before, in the Saturn version?

Oh!
And do you remember Jessica?
You know when you use her healing magic... "Althena! Lend me your power!!"
Oh man. Well, it seems to me that she sounds way more natural in Japanese...
The way the words are changed just sounds less overacted to me.
I don't know Japanese though... I think I hear "Arutena no megami yo".
But to a Japanese speaker, does she sound as natural as I think?

I never played SSSC on the SS so I never knew that. I think overall though I prefer the PS sound. It just sounds better to me for some reason. Maybe because that's the sound I recognize with it. :/

As for Jessica, I kind of like her Japanese a bit better. I can’t say if it sounds more natural or not though since I don’t speak it either. ^^’’

Re: the sound effect -- that's interesting, I never knew that. I would guess that it's a Saturn-to-PS change rather than a Japan-to-US change though. (I actually haven't played the Japanese PS versions for comparison, only the Japanese Saturn and US PS ones, but I don't believe WD changed around any of the core SFX.)

Re: Jessica's dialogue, I think they both sound about equal. I didn't find her voice acting in English particularly overacted, though.

BTW, her chant in the Japanese version is just "Blessings of Althena!" (literally at least -- I think I'd have translated it as "by the grace of the goddess" or something similar). KF
