Re: What Are You Currently Playing?

My husband says I can tell you he's a Sasquatch-weenie, though I don't know if that's how he'd spell it. =) When we met, he and his younger brother were both in Vancouver going to UBC, and their other brother and parents moved there so now that's where the family is.

Re: Anyone into Xenogears?

Spouse was playing it (I was watching and knitting) a little while ago but we paused at the beginning of disc 2 and haven't gotten back to it. He'd played it when it came out, but I didn't. My main problem was that I kept losing track of which countries and political entities were which.

Re: First playthrough

You do want to get the Red Chest in the Cave of Trial. Save the contents until you're able to get through that really brutal forest south of Meryod (?), which you might not be able to manage until after getting the Black Dragon's dragon magic. And save before you use it, too, because you will random...

Re: What Are You Currently Playing?

Hahaha, that was also the case with me and my husband. He was a college student in Canada (I'm in California), and we'd been in a relationship for nine months before we met in person. That was a little less common in 2000. (WDMB = Working Designs message board, which we'd both joined after playing S...

Re: TSS text fun

As I mentioned elsewhere, I've played a little bit of the game in Japanese recently. I'm not planning on making this a chronicle of differences, since Kizyr has already covered the major ones (http://www.lunar-net.com/tss/tss_diff.php), but the interaction with Quark has a couple of points I wasn't ...

Re: First playthrough

The artwork (bromides) are found by talking to certain NPCs at the right points in the games. Sometimes you need to talk to them at one point to get the bromide from them later. There are also a few special items to get this way. I don't recall Jessica's personality really changing much. This game d...

Re: TSS text fun

I'd noticed before that text is grouped in the files by location/map screen. For example, in Burg, all of the text that occurs outside of any of the houses (and not in the Springs or at the monument) is together in the file, grouped by character, including text that shows when entering the town. Aft...

Re: First playthrough

Yeah, we have an item called the flame sword, but it's a little weaker than the equipment Alex currently has. Is there a reason to hold on to it? We've been selling off our old equipment. Yeah, that's the one. TBH I don't recall whether the elemental bonus damage is enough to make it worthwhile to ...

Re: First ever lunar the silver star 100% run completed...but IS it 100%?!

Are you referring to the chests with stat-boosting nuts? I'd like to compare notes with you on that. I wrote down where I found them in my TSS guide (yes, I write in my guides...) but I've never counted them. I can tell you at least one falls victim to the peril of overlevelling that I noted a while...

Re: What Are You Currently Playing?

Dude, wow. I've been kinda sporadic here so I wouldn't be surprised if I missed something, but it sounds ike I didn't. That is sickeningly darling. :) I would be up for another LunarNET wedding trip... =) This summer will be zqfmbg's and my 15th wedding anniversary. We're a WDMB couple rather than a...

Did you get the Flame Sword in the Red Dragon Cave? It's easy to miss.

Re: Hiro Epilogue Solo Run

The cutscene with farewells only plays if you have all of them. Otherwise, everyone in the party has a voiced line. Since you only had Ruby, that's the only line you heard. To hear them all, play through the epilogue with just two other characters (or none, as you did) and save and grab a third pers...

Re: First playthrough

Welcome! I hope you enjoy it. I look forward to hearing what you think.

Be aware that pretty much everything in the game will be spoiled in some thread or another around here, though hopefully not too much in thread titles.

Re: Saturn vs. PlayStation

My husband is playing it for the experience of reading the Japanese, and since he's far from fluent and is looking up lots of stuff, it goes really slowly. It's kind of fun because of course I have the Japanese and English script(s) at hand so we can talk about how things were rendered and what chan...

That's assuming we ever get out of Burg. Four hours of play and Ramus still isn't in the party.

Re: Saturn vs. PlayStation

Spouse has started playing SSS (orig) on Saturn, and I have saves from the MPEG version on the same cart, so I may be in a decent position to compare the two. However, since we're playing on an actual console and TV, probably the best I'll be able to do for screenshots is actual photos. But I'll try...

I'd prefer forums too but I've almost never used Discord so I don't have much to compare with. But being able to look at all the past conversations on things at once is invaluable to me.

Re: TSS text fun

His in-menu figure (e.g., when changing the order of the party) also changes -- and he's holding a sword after the change, as well as having the other clothes. His figure before opening the chest does not have the sword.

Re: TSS text fun

One line in Burg I've always thought was a little odd was this one, spoken by the man near the bridge: SO ALEX, WHAT'S WITH THE BRAVE LOOK? HMMMMMMM...... AH, AN ADVENTURE WORTHY OF DRAGONMASTER DYNE! HM! WELL PLEASE BE CAREFUL. THE WORLD IS NOT WHAT IT USED TO BE! AND DYNE'S SHOES WILL BE TOUGH TO ...
