Re: First impressions of Eternal Blue
So... I actually took "advantage" of the Pandemic to finish the PS1 version of Eternal Blue, which now sits as just my second most favorite RPG (just behind DQ 9). There was a bit of a hiccup along the way, though... turns out that the PS3 can't switch discs when promoted to do so and I h...

Re: What Are You Currently Playing?
A great thing about Virginia is that customized license tags are incredibly cheap (only $10 initially and then renewing registration has no added cost thereafter), which is why they're so ubiquitous here.

Re: TSS and EB re-released on Mega Drive Mini 2 in October!
Eh.... disappointing yes but not unexpected. Honestly though that lineup looks worth it -- I have several games already on that list, but a few more (notably Shining Force, Three Kingdoms, Shin Megami Tensei) I don't have and this seems like a convenient way to try them. And not having to set up my ...

I can't really comment on faces (not as good at recognizing distinctive styles there), but I do have to say that the outfits are definitely on-point with evoking Lunar's aesthetic. It looks great.

Re: What Are You Currently Playing?
At long last I'm finally playing FFX-2 (HD Remastered version).
I haven't played FFX. The only things I knew about the first game going in were character names, the soundtrack, and Tidus' laugh.
Really enjoying it so far. I find myself identifying with Yuna a lot.

Re: Live Music
I grew up in Nashville, which has (or at least while I grew up there) a very active live music scene -- not just country but all genres -- to the point where pretty much any bar, coffee shop, or other decent venue has a stage. So when I was at least old enough to go I got a good taste of live music ...

Re: TSS: Save State Hacking, Debug Mode, and Level Data
I feel like if anyone has tried to get Ramus up to Lvl99, Alunissage would have tried. There's definitely been attempts to, e.g., get early non-permanent characters (like Lucia pre-curse in EB) up to a high level that way, but running into some hard game limit.

2. The transparent files have Magic School on one side and Evangelion on the other, and then Lunar SSSC and Slayers on the second one! The Funato tankoubon are more precious to me so I'd be looking at 50-100 if piecing them out altogether, I'm open to any offers though! Thanks! Let me send you a DM...

Sorry to hear you have to let this go, but definitely understood and I hope you can find a good buyer for all of these! I'll also say just looking at this, this is a ton of very difficult to find merchandise. If anyone is considering getting anything or everything here, $300 is a major bargain (All ...

Re: TSS and EB re-released on Mega Drive Mini 2 in October!
As an update to my comments above about how the Lunars sadly will probably not be on the US version, MD Mini 2 producer Yousuke Okunari commented in a Dengeki interview (https://dengekionline.com/articles/140818/) that the US lineup with be different for the specific reason of rightsholder issues: ...

Original Lunar games announced for Mega Drive Mini 2!
Huge news! Sega has been gradually announcing its lineup for the Mega Drive Mini 2 this October, and the original Lunar: The Silver Star and Lunar: Eternal Blue, for the Sega/Mega CD, are on the list! The titles were announced on Sega's Japanese site: https://sega.jp/mdmini2/titlelist.html https://s...

Gonna have a news page update shortly. But yeah, this is legit exciting news!
I haven't heard any word or details yet on English language ports, either.
Does anyone here know more about that maybe?

Awesome tributes so far!
It occurs to me that it's been at least six years since I played anything Lunar-related... Maybe soon.

Re: Recent-ish Lunar fan!
That's awesome! I had the same impression when I first played the original two games back in the 90s, and I always wonder how people who encounter the series more recently will find it, especially without any of the nostalgia factor. Since I don't have an iPhone (non-work one anyway) and don't inten...

Nothing planned here -- but Alun, how much text are we talking about?
One unfortunate thing with me also is that our printer/scanner that's lasted for like 15 years now is no longer working.

Re: What Are You Currently Playing?
I'm pretty much spending all my time playing Horizon Forbidden West right now. As a huge Horizon fan it's pretty much all I hoped for -- 100 hours in and I think I'm just under 50% done, partly because I'm spending a lot of time just going off and exploring. Now on to Shining Force CD. I'm curious h...

Re: Playing Through the Saturn Version for the First Time
Oof I really hope you are recovering ok! And that the new house / move has gone well. I'm still mildly curious if Working Designs was really working on the Saturn release as long as they implied -- in other words if they decided to pivot to Playstation and saw the writing on the wall long before the...
