Getting back to this, does anyone think it's possible to beat the bronze dogs without leveling up?

It's not like Final Fantasy where there are a ton of offensive items you can use. Maybe if you get incredibly lucky...

I can play a basic version on the piano. It's not that hard to figure it out.

The FF8 draw system definitely was awful. I liked the story. The main villain was pretty lame though.

Speed running is a way to get further enjoyment out of a game you've already played the hell out of. You're not missing anything if you know the game inside and out, which is pretty likely for any game you're going to attempt a run on.
