Re: What Are You Currently Playing?
Oh wow, I played Monkey Island 4 on PC first, and I remember having to look at the PC mapping a lot. It was a big step down from point-and-click.
I'm still playing Xenoblade Chronicles 3. I'm at least past the halfway point (in chapter 5). It may yet end up being my favorite XC game.

Re: TSS and EB re-released on Mega Drive Mini 2 in October!
Thanks for the confirmation, Temzin. I've been looking every week or so to see if the game selection updated. Ugh, no Lunar in English. What a missed opportunity for the Sega Genesis version of the system. I just pre-ordered the Mega Drive version. The ability to switch languages for some of the gam...

Re: What Are You Currently Playing?
I have played about 8 hours of Xenoblade Chronicles 3. I'm in chapter 2, just now with a full party of six characters. It is impressive how well combat with six characters feels balanced so far; yes, it's too fast to follow every action, but I can do pretty well by just following one or two characte...

Re: TSS: Save State Hacking, Debug Mode, and Level Data
A level 99 Ramus would be interesting. His dad couldn't call him lazy anymore. "What? You say you've spent so many hours just beating up on the animals around here instead of starting that great adventure of yours? You've compounded laziness with procrastination!" Ramus's dad, possibly.

Re: TSS and EB re-released on Mega Drive Mini 2 in October!
Wow. What a selection! There is currently a possible leak of a Genesis Mini 2 for North America, though I don't see the Lunar games confirmed on that list yet: https://arstechnica.com/gaming/2022/07/sega-genesis-mini-2-brings-the-sega-cd-era-to-a-tiny-console-on-october-27/ Fingers crossed. At worst...

It's not often I think of horror and Lunar in the same breath. (And no, the haunted house in Lunar 2 doesn't count.) The atmosphere is great in this piece.

Re: What Are You Currently Playing?
I hit a major difficulty spike with the robot fighting. I switched up my robot frames so that I controlled a balanced model rather than the small, speedy model, tweaked some other modules, and came back to win handily. The need to revisit prior, entrenched ways of how to play the game seems to jibe ...

I'm playing Lost Judgment and love it. I'm on Chapter 9 now and blowing through the school stories. Currently, I'm trying to make Yagami into the best scooter-motorcyclist ever.

Re: What Are You Currently Playing?
Chrono Cross remaster. I'm a little over halfway through the game, in my estimation. I've just awakened the Black Dragon. I still really like it. The difficulty curve has always been about what I like - hard enough that I can and will game over if I neglect something, battles structured to not be to...

I'll second that the cards are a nice touch. Also, I hadn't noticed the hairband before, and I think it's rockin' in this picture.

Re: Do you guys ever feel weird shopping for video games?
Yes. Back in the 1990s and the 2000s, I learned to distinguish between places that were happy to let me browse and places where staff checked on me multiple times. I avoided the latter, but had enough options that I was okay. I only had one actively bad interaction, where as a 13 year old I interjec...

Re: Excited About Chrono Cross Remaster
^ The comparison to Eternal Blue is really interesting. Certainly, I agree that Eternal Blue was a successful sequel even though it didn't immediately follow the first game. I'm not sure that Chrono Cross failed in what it was doing though. I think many players were put off by the fact that Chrono C...

Re: Excited About Chrono Cross Remaster
I'm excited. I haven't played Chrono Cross in at least a decade, but it was one of my favorite PS1 games. At the time I first played Chrono Cross, I had played Chrono Trigger at a friend's house but hadn't played through it. So I was close enough to the series to appreciate how it echoed Chrono Trig...

Happy Lunar New Year! Has anyone done a "It's the year of the tiger..." version of Survivor's Eye of the Tiger? Or would that be too much? It's the year of the tiger, a fighter Dancing through the fire 'Cause we are the champions, and you're gonna hear me roar Louder, louder than a dragon ...

Re: What Are You Currently Playing?
I've been playing Yakuza Like a Dragon. I'm nearing the end; I'm surprised how much I've been sucked into the side content - minigames, side quests, the optional dungeon. I think I prefer the generally more grounded nature[*] of Yakuza Kiwami, but I admit enjoying the flights of fancy in LAD. I like...

Re: Crypto currency
That's great, WD. I'm glad you're able to pursue moving to Japan. The fact that Mastercard, VISA, PAYPAL, even Robinhood support it is very odd to me. If it wasn't going anywhere why would all these companies adapt it? It deff seems like a Pyramid Scheme but just so hard to wrap my head around it. P...
