Re: Fulari

Hey Kiz, thanks for the shout-out! I haven't really done much for Lunar-Net and by extension for my much-beloved game series since the whole Lunar 1&2 Design Materials translation (did people ever read that? Never got much feedback) so it's nice to be able to help again even if it's the tiniest ...

Fulari

Re: Ramus "leaving town with someone named Fulari." This is a tiny point, but the "fulari" is actually WD's mistranslation of the sound effect furari, indicating pointlessly or suddendly (leaving). So it's not フラリ(という人)と村を飛び出した, but rather, フラリと(当てもなく)村を飛び出した.

Re: Last set of J-to-E differences!

I'd call this a type 2 difference, since it shows quite a difference in how Ghaleon sees himself... or rather, how he wants his audience to think he sees himself. The J version is presumably his actual opinion, which the party and player aren't to know until later. Considering it's a change in nuan...

Some tiny things I can hopefully save Kizyr the time on: By the way, is it called Dyne's Monument, or Dyne's Grave? It's ダインの塚, Dyne's Mound、as in Dyne's Burial Mound, as I recall. Isn't part of the fortress called "Althena's Road" or Path or something? This would fit with that. There's al...

Impressive work, Kiz! Was just strolling through, and had a quick note about one of your level 5's:

the Ocarina difference must only be a Saturn thing. The Japanese PSX SSS's Ocarina DOES work as a music player. Just thought you might like to know.

Heheh, many thanks, it's thanks to the screen cap gallery here, no less! Remember when we voted for favorite RPG's maybe a few years back, and you asked if the lack of the EB remake among all my Lunar selections was because I was considering my chosen favorite, the Mega CD version, to be the same th...

There's definitely no definite answer, as seen in the many (unsuccessful) attempts in interviews in the Lunar I&II Design Material Collection which always result in Shigema basically saying Hiero's backstory isn't something he made definite designs for. Geographically, I always figured that he's...

What, no love for Ziek the Risen aka the Phantom Sentry?! He's only the best part of the original Eternal Blue that's missing from the remake. What a cool dude, sharp-shooting action from beneath his sinister cloak and helmet, and the toughest boss next to Borgan that I can think of when you face hi...

OOoops, but then again, you can find far more egregious typos in just about any other US translation of a Japanese RPG at the time, I imagine. The real problem with the US text of the EB remake was where old translated dialogue was used by accident, the instance where White Dragon's Cave treasures N...

For my part, I really enjoyed that Arhes/Alex got fleshed out a lot more in the SSS remake, since while I understand the original "role-playing" spirit of the silent protagonist, I'm always so much more excited to learn about a character I am unfamiliar with and to immerse myself in a stor...

"Not as strange as you being 35 and never having a girlfriend! People are beginning to talk..." Hullo again! That line wasn't in the Japanese version at all as I recall, it being one of the few justly criticized parts of WD's translation of Eternal Blue way back when. As for the 1000 year...

It's fun to jump back to the L 'net every so often, and here's just the thread for it! I can't recommend playing the original Lunar~EB highly enough. Though I'm in the unusual situation of vastly preferring SSS over TSS because of its better cohesion (except for the loss of the gloom and urgency aft...

Alunissage got it right about the Mega CD version's presentation being different in the US and Japan. ...unfortunately, my memory's dim right now so I can't remember which was which, but there is definitely one version where the Epilogue save file is called "epilogue," and another that just says "Hi...

Lunar~Eternal Blue definitely showed me that RPG's could be fathoms deeper storywise and emotionally than any other kind of game I'd ever encountered...today, I'll still play other games for kicks now and again, but only a good story will really warrant my time, and Lunar set the bar high. I never w...

Mmm, for SSS movies I watched over and over again, it'd have to be the Ghaleon vs. the White Dragon scene, whose booming music and visuals were simply amazing, along with the boat scene with Wind's Nocturne, Althen'as rebirth scene with its wonderful drama and music, and finally, Ghaleon and Alex's ...

Heh, no surprise about the segment skipping...Iwadare's great score took such a pummeling on the PS remake (despite extended song versions), after all. I's a shame they didn't bother to do better on the PS than the embarrassing "violins" that feature so strongly in Zophar's Arrival and Footsteps of ...
