Re: Valkyria Chronicles...
Oh, I agree that it's generally not that bad, though I only played it on the Dreamcast myself. The South Ocean just really is quite terrible whether or not it's supposed to be. XD

Re: Valkyria Chronicles...
Well, it's really only horrible in the South Ocean, particularly if you travel through it more than once to get all the discoveries before Domingo like I did. <_< But anyway, I agree. Play! XD

Re: Valkyria Chronicles...
Though there's this Vyse guy who's visiting from some far land (must be really far off; the setting of this game doesn't even have airplanes yet) who has a rather disturbingly gleeful laugh when mowing people down with a machine gun; at least his friend Aika, also along, isn't quite so bloodthirsty...

Re: My Lunar: SSH review 6/10
I think he's referring to the fact that they use the original, lower quality voice sample of her song in some places (for instance, when you first hear her singing coming from the springs) while you hear the new voice sample in many other places (during the four heroes' scenario, in battle, at the s...

Re: Question about some screenshots!
I would assume it's an initial concept for Electroshower. The seal is fairly similar to the one in the original: http://img.photobucket.com/albums/v61/Lunar_Eclipse/thundershower.jpg But yeah, a few things in the early screenshots were weird. Both Luna and Nash carried Waterflow Staves, for instance...

Re: The reworked cutscene music
Well, basically, I just really like that there's more variance to each repeat of the main melody. The original version starts off with just the voice and then adds layer after layer of louder echoing of the same notes, plus the little tag between the repeats with the synth brass. The new version has...

Re: Why do the remakes keep getting easier?
And regarding TSS being the hardest, I'll cite the Vane Trial as the biggest example. ... Also, having Luna along in the remake makes the Water Dragon much easier, as opposed to just having Alex and Ramus. These are really just a function of having Luna along, which, while it made that segment of t...

Re: Why do the remakes keep getting easier?
First, I don't really see how random battles or world maps in and of themselves make games "harder". If anything, they'd make them easier given games equal in all other respects because you'd pretty much be forced to level up more often unless you wanted to rely on a somewhat unreliable fl...

Re: The reworked cutscene music
Assuming you have a file with the Reminiscer, you should check it out in comparison to a YouTube of the original. Unfortunately, there aren't YouTube versions of the SSH cutscenes yet for easy comparison.

The reworked cutscene music
Anyone a major fan of some of the new work Iwadare did for the cutscenes for the North American version of SSH? It was pretty subtle at most points, but I was blown away by the drama he added to the Azure City's appearance. It wasn't what I expected (since I had just anticipated more powerful and/or...

Re: North American Sales
So you're saying it might have sold more than that. Or maybe I'm being too optimistic...... Sadly, they usually produce horribly inflated numbers rather than conservative low-ball estimates. As I said previously, the numbers for Tales of the World: Radiant Mythology, another PSP title, are off by n...

Re: So, the Orb Bangle ...
But it's not like the Japanese names automatically make more sense or sound better when directly translated just because that's how they started originally. [Lots of comparisons] Seriously, get some perspective. Er, was this directed at me? Because seriously, I already said that I don't care whethe...

Re: So, the Orb Bangle ...
Honestly, I don't care that much if they respect the original, though, as you said, it's not really necessary when the names are fine as they are. I just took issue with the way some of them were changed since I thought the naming choices just ... weren't good. I've always disliked anything with &qu...

Re: So, the Orb Bangle ...
Fire or Hell? The old Hell Armlet is what's now the Charm Armlet, so we're probably talking about the same thing. The old Fire Armlet is now the Beam Armlet, which I think is still in there unless I got things mixed up. Oh, but yeah, I like a lot of the new item names a lot better. Hero's Armlet is ...

So, the Orb Bangle ...
It seems like this is missing from the game. The equivalent, which was the Stone Bracelet, was in the Grindery in the original, but I haven't found it there, nor is it listed in the guide's area treasure list as far as I recall. What is odd is that there are two Pleiades Bangles (one in the Blue Dra...

Re: Lunar: SSH review @ RPGFan
Also don't you think they should have added at least a new dungeon? This I agree with. Would've been fun to have a bit of a bonus with some extra armors and whatnot. I've never minded the world shrinking much, though. I mean, it was a bit of a loss from TSS to SSSC, but ever since then, the overwor...

Re: My Lunar: SSH review 6/10
Now which one reads and makes more sense to you? If you can honestly say Xseed, then there really is no reason to debate. The style used by WD made more sense. It included purpose and motive. Xseed just blatantly hopes that the audience will accept this monologue. That we'll blatantly accept it? I ...

Re: My Lunar: SSH review 6/10
Now I just feel completely unlucky. ;_; As for what they touched, most of it was highly inconsequential. You can quibble about minor things like the Azure City of Althena, the Ghoto Woods, and Honmel Isle, but in the end, it doesn't make the game any less enjoyable, so I don't really see the argumen...

Re: My Lunar: SSH review 6/10
Maybe it's just because I'm a horrible item hoarder, but I still thought some bosses posed a decent threat. I had a couple of instances against the Bronze Dogs where they'd cast Fire Ball at the end of a round (after Jessica's turn) and then cast it again in the next round on the same person (before...
