Re: iOS updates!

Oh, that bit of using the dragonfly wings to bypass the check for whether weapons are equipped? It's mentioned explicitly in the SSSC official guide, so WD at least saw it as a feature rather than a bug even if it was accidental in origin. Players of SSST might actually be annoyed about that fix, ha...

Re: iOS updates!

I'm so glad that this continues to be polished up. Such a labor of love. I would love to know the details of the Crystal Tower bug. I'm not a podcast person but the BloodGodPod talked about SSS and did mention the iOS version, I saw on Twitter. I really hope some people who don't already have SSST a...

Re: Speedrun Bounty Announcement - I will be funding a bounty for Lunar 2 SCD's Speedrun World Record!

Just FYI, in the enemies I have stats in both games for (which is all of them up through Azado Tower), most enemies have around 25% more HP in the NA version, and from the Illusion Woods on, ATK and DEF are boosted around the same amount. (This is different from SSSC, in which WD boosted the ATK but...

Re: Playing through JP Eternal Blue: Things to Know?

I played a bit yesterday, from Azado through getting the Destiny and stopping just outside the White Dragon Cave. One of my old Japanese magazines has a detailed walkthrough up to the end of Azado including enemy and boss stats so I finally did the comparison I've wanted to do with the numbers from ...

Re: Decompiling Lunar 2 for PS1

So, the EBC demo had some joke stuff in it that wasn't accessible while playing the demo normally -- the pajamas were called Bernie's Pajamas after Bernie Stolar, for one -- that one of the WD messageboard members found with a GameShark and similar. I would guess that the Dark Scimitar was also put ...

Re: Speedrun Bounty Announcement - I will be funding a bounty for Lunar 2 SCD's Speedrun World Record!

Are you specifying NA vs JP version? I'm pretty sure there are enough differences for that to matter. Not thinking of the Lemina Bug since that would take a nontrivial amount of time to activate because of the M requirement, but the enemies' stats are a bit different. I have a project to compare the...

I'll have to sometime too. I verified Elijah's original run for SDA, but that was a LONG time ago.

Re: First impressions of Eternal Blue

Huh I thought PS3 is only backwards compatible with PS2, not PS1. Did you have to do something special to get it to play? For older systems like that btw I feel like I've more often just found a way to get the old system itself -- hence why I have a Japanese PS1 and Japanese Saturn (I still have my...

Re: What Are You Currently Playing?

Apologies, I sounded far more stiff and stern than I intended. I think it works in cases like FFX where the viewpoint character is also the stranger to the world because it allows the player to get to know the world and setting along with the viewpoint character, who is as ignorant as the player. Ti...

Re: What Are You Currently Playing?

The protagonist isn't always the main playable/viewpoint character. FFXII was similar, where Vaan was the viewpoint character but Ashe is definitely the protagonist. A similar argument could be made for Lucia and Hiro.

Re: Playing through JP Eternal Blue: Things to Know?

I'm pretty sure Jean only makes the connection about Lunn in Pentagulia. She shows him the mask and he says something like "Jean, you always were my best student." And then locks her up, of course. Interesting to see the translation of the scene with the Phantom Sentry / Sieg. It's been ma...

Re: Playing through JP Eternal Blue: Things to Know?

I did not know that about Leo's earth spell. I will have to check it out! I got sufficiently stuck in Zophar's castle that I looked in the guide (which I'd actually found on the shelf in a bookstore before I bought the game) and found that I had been mistaking a teleport pad for background art. Jean...

Re: Playing through JP Eternal Blue: Things to Know?

Haha, I had the double-6 thing happen to me too. Wasn't sure if I should spoil it for you what it does. I think that's the only one with negative effects. Here, I'll c/p from my notes: Chance dice effects: 2 large damage to all enemies 3 mutes all enemies 4 poisons all enemies 5 paralyzes all enemie...

Re: Seeking Eternal Blue Mail-In

Please do! I really need to do better by my collection and I'd love to see how you frame the poster for inspiration. We're in the process of having a basement added to our house, and while it'll primarily be a cat-free workspace for my husband I'm thinking I'll use some of the wall space and finally...

Re: Playing through JP Eternal Blue: Things to Know?

I've only played up to just after Lucia is healed, so I'm pretty rusty too. I last played this game in Japanese in something like 2003, stopping just after Borgan. My distinct recollection is that Borgan is harder in the Japanese game than in the NA one, and he's legendarily hard in the NA one. The ...
