Here's an odd question: What are the caves at the north of the map called in the English version? In Lunar Genesis the name was ミロード. This is identical to the TSS/SSS Japanese name of Meryod. Very curious.

I did a quick scan of the packaging, the disk ID, the .txt files... even the novel and RPG expansion book. I haven't found it identified as 'Lunar gaiden' or anything of the like. I would like to search the game data itself, since I think that would be the most likely place to find it, but that's be...

Anybody heard of a GameArts game on Saturn called Dinosaur Island (Daina Iran)? It's a graphical adventure in a world where dinosaurs have been rediscovered and repopulated (they are really goofy-looking and cute). It turns out that dinosaurs can be controlled by music, and there are schools where p...

Okay, as there seems to be confusion, I will clarify. I found these screens in the Febuary 1994 issue of Super Famicom magazine. The article was probably written in January, 3 months before the game's release. Thus the screens are definitely from an incomplete version.

FF6 Gameplay Question

Submitted in hopes that there are some FF6 gurus here: I recently found a Japanese article with curious pre-release screenshots. My favorite was a picture of Maduin (Terra's father) encased in ice in the Narshe mines in place of Tritoch. (I assume the staff used Maduin's much simpler sprite as a pla...

I'm hoping V will be better, though, and unless it ends up with terrible reviews, I'll likely buy it anyway. It's one of my favorite series It is an interesting premise, though, the Queendom of Falena. I heard it briefly mentioned with a character's past in Suikoden 2 but not much other than that. ...

It's been a long time since I played it (I have little interest in replaying it) and I don't remember all that well, but I do remember that most of the things that happened had little bearing on the rest of the series. I seem to recall that the manga put more emphasis on human/beastman friction than...

Incidentally, based on the Japanese game I pretty much agree with this review, although I'd like to mention that there are frequent statues for recovery in the beginning, so the HP loss from running isn't that bad even then. Oh, and I haven't experienced this speeding up of battle animation he ment...

One staff member who was in the excellent habit of making her process available is Akari Funato (whom I've ended up mentioning in at least half my posts here). While she's kind of just a lucky fan (an aspiring artist who joined the Lunar staff after playing and loving Lunar TSS), she did work on the...

I'd wondered if using family-like terms to address strangers might be a Japanese language thing. I certainly saw it a lot in the old fairy tales I used to read when I was younger; people were always calling the strange old people they met in the forest "Granther" or "Mother", and of course referrin...

Results of the Umbrella Drawing

You may recall that people living in Japan could enter a drawing via Marvelous Interactive's Lunar Genesis website. 10 winners would recieve an umbrella similar to the one Lucia carries, and it would be delivered to their home by actress Aikawa Yuzuki in Lucia cosplay. Here's an article with picture...

Perhaps his embittered nature after Dyne's loss caused him to pursue more destructive arts? It's not like he never had the ability, but his vengeance may have driven him to hone in on that ability. Going by that, he'd likely be the healer of the party in a Four Heroes game. KF I think Akari Funato ...

More than just the manga supports Ghaleon as a healer. In Silver Star Story, it looks like Four Heroes Ghaleon was a priest. His costume shares certain similarities with Jessica's, as well as Phacia's priestess costume - most evident are the white hoods and the gold medalions. For comparison: Phacia...

I'm a story girl, but even more importantly I'm a character girl. Lunar 1 has more of both. Even in the original with it's much sparser text, the Lunar 1 characters have better chemistry.

That said, Lunar 2, especially the original, is more satisfying to play. I played Lunar 2 on SegaCD first.

Mel's Pirate Backstory

I remember seeing a thread about Mel and his background as a pirate, and what the deal was with Meribia's name changing, etc, etc; (though I can't seem to find it anymore) and I've found some data that clarifies it somewhat. Since it comes from a Lunar TSS guidebook (specifically L:TSS World of Luna...

Thanks GhaleonOne. I was afraid UbiSoft had mangled it, but that's pretty good. Alunissage, the part about Confissao and the Confession of the Soul Rumack twins (oh, I didn't mention that, did I? They're fraternal twins) is in the Confessions of the Moon doujinshi. Since there are images of the maga...

Vane Airship Stories Tidbits

Flipping through the various doujinshi i noticed a few things; hopefully I'm not treading over familliar ground here. Funato notes several of Nash's ancestors who appear in Confession of the Soul and Memories of Confessing. They are all identified simply by Nash's family name, Ru-makku (was it Ramuc...

They're uncluttered, which can be a good thing, but I mostly just think the designers wanted to get them out the door. Either that or they have some inexplicable fondness for the airbrush tool. I'm trying to remember what was in this game that would earn it the 'animated blood' citation, and I can't.
