Re: Legend of Korra (spoilers allowed, up to the latest epis
All in all, this was a very enjoyable show. I followed along with the AV Club's review, and people there were "shipping" Korra and Asami from the first episode of this season. But I probably wouldn't have seen it coming myself. The interesting thing about the Korra and Asami relationship i...

Re: FF VIII (re)visited
I got to disc 2 in FF8 about 8 months ago or so. I really enjoyed it. When I first played the game in 1999, I didn't realize that drawing more of a particular magic made the junction effect more powerful. So I got up to disc 4 not realizing why the game was so difficult or how I could possibly be e...

Re: FF VIII (re)visited
I just learned Enc-None. Seems like cheating though. It's really hard for me to play RPGs from this era because of the graphics. I am okay with the 8-bit and 16-bit era RPGs and what came after. The PS RPGs literally hurt my eyes. At the end of the generation they got it right with Legend of Mana (w...

FF VIII (re)visited
I am finally finishing FF VIII. I first started playing FF8 fifteen years ago when I rented it from a Hollywood Video store (the details of this story keeps making me feel older and older...) I didn't make it far. My original model Playstation overheated every time I got into a battle. When I bought...

I can't wait for the Dragon Song remake that will be released 50 years from now.

Re: Are Lunar 1 and 2 (PS1) actually difficult RPGs?
I think one thing about Lunar is that you have to use support magic to increase defense and attack. A lot of modern JRPGs (thinking FF specifically) don't require that. In my first playthrough I had to learn how to do that before I could get past the Saline Slimer.

Re: Legend of Korra (spoilers allowed, up to the latest epis
I'm still enjoying it quite a bit! The Red Lotus was a better enemy, but I like Kuvira too. I think Toph's advice for Korra to look for the good in her former enemies was really interesting. The Korra PTSD plot is pretty great. I love that a cartoon is willing to approach this. Korra may have over-c...

We could pick a fight with a Grandia board and they could be our enemy.

Re: There's a Let's Play
This board needs a common enemy to rally against. We'll either call it the Lelouch plan or the Benevolent_Ghaleon plan. Whichever seems more appropriate.

It was pretty great. This season was the first time I feel like they actually accomplished integrating modern themes into the Avatar setting.

Re: Finally, after literally 15 years of looking...
This is a really sweet story. Glad you finally found it! Also, $99 is a lot for Chrono Trigger? I bought it for 60 dollars back in the day, played through it and re-sold it a few months later for $50 to put money down towards a Dreamcast: Clearly a sound investment that lead to years of great games ...

I forgot to check the site yesterday? Did Lunar-Net do one? I remember that April Fool's used be big on Working Designs, but I can't really remember any specifically.

It really sucked in FF6 too.Sonic# wrote:It wasn't the connections within the system, but the disc read speed. It's universal with these games on PS1. It was noticeable with Final Fantasy Anthology, and atrocious with Final Fantasy Chronicles.
