Re: Playing Through the Saturn Version for the First Time

The regular enemy stat changes are basically: SSSC HP is 90% of SSS's HP SSSC ATK is 144% of SSS's ATK SSSC EXP is 86.3% of SSS's EXP SSSC Silver is 90% of SSS's Silver. Lunar Legend and SSH regular enemies have basically the same stats as SSS, although I don't remember if I've checked every single ...

Re: Hi, I bring greetings and maps

Oh, nice! I'm always glad to have new Lunar stuff to add to my files. :) If it's any consolation, Borgan is even harder in the Japanese game. This is one of the few times that WD made a boss easier, though it might only have been making him cast Gravity Bomb less often. I came really close to beatin...

Re: In defense of Lunar: Legend...

I'm pretty sure they had to, but don't recall if there was an official statement to that effect. But even if NoA was loosening up regarding their console games, the GBA was likely still seen as being primarily for kids. Ubisoft may also have been concerned about the rating; the game came out in NA o...

Re: First playthrough

Reading that reminds me that when I first played SSSC, I thought there'd be a healing statue after fighting Xenobia, so I went forward and...instead had the final battle without doing any healing up. Still won somehow but IIRC it was Nash and Mia doing most of the damage and Kyle healing, which I su...

Re: In defense of Lunar: Legend...

I'd love to hear your comments. It really is an underappreciated game. I really feel for the localizers, though. Not only did they clearly not have enough time (I think only a few months elapsed between the JP and NA games), but they had the same character limit as in the Japanese script -- and 18-2...

Re: What Are You Currently Playing?

Recently played a little of Zelda: Skyward Sword. I pretty much missed out on playing this game the first time around because my arm was broken. Unfortunately, I'm just as susceptible to motion sickness now as I was then, so I haven't gotten very far.

I've never really gotten used to the font, silly as it sounds. Well, maybe it's not that silly; I dunno. And, of course, I wish the item and location names matched the dialogue. Though it's been a while since I played earlier parts of it and I have no idea if my concerns are even current. Likewise w...

Re: Returning user from circa 2002

Aww...this is going to bug me now. Though I might well not remember anyway. Once in a while I'll reread old threads and see a post and think "This person makes a point I've never thought about before" and then find out that I wrote it. :D (That's not to say there are no cringey posts in my...

Re: What Are You Currently Playing?

I remember buying Tales of Destiny in the months after playing SSSC in 1999. That was when I realized that I could actually go and get games rather than waiting for them to come to me (everything I'd played up to that point had been given to me or my housemate, except for SSSC itself which may have ...

Hello! I definitely don't remember that username, but if it's not the same one you were using then, I won't worry about it. I don't remember exactly when I joined here; the forums were updated and everyone had to re-register in Dec 2002 so all of us who were around before then have similar join date...

Re: First playthrough

In TSS, the illness was caused by Xenobia, and I think it affected both men and women villagers (because a kid loses his father), as well as Jessica, Mia, and Fresca. Pretty sure the main reason was gameplay-related; they needed to make room for Tempest and having just one person out put too much fo...

Re: First playthrough

Per the manga (never officially translated, but considered "canon"), Ghaleon is of the same race but a different branch, one that was never confined in the Frontier. He was probably the last one of them born in Vane, a city that was once entirely Vile Tribe. He's something like 152 years o...

Re: First playthrough

You weren't missing anything with the puzzle. In Japanese the solution is spelled straight out, in English it's totally missing. I really wish it had been an actual solvable puzzle. The beverage did actually inspire Fresca's English name (she's Pilya in Japanese), which WD tried to hide in TSS by ha...

Dude. Hey.

I've been kind of entirely focused on Lunar 1 in the past couple of years and will continue to be for the foreseeable future. Still, I hope to get back to my playthrough of EBC and do one of EB some year.

Re: TSS text fun

I have a ton of screenshots on another drive that isn't handy right now, but those transcriptions seem all right at a glance. I do remember there not being anything about "green eyes" in the Japanese version (the J-E differences page also has that noted, in that one of the books in Damon'...

Re: First ever lunar the silver star 100% run completed...but IS it 100%?!

To clarify, those are all nuts, not seeds (I keep thinking you mean Seed of Vigor when you don't). I'd found the Reza ones but hadn't written them down, so I'm glad for the reminder. Had never checked the Prairie Cave, or else checked it at some super-high level not knowing that some chests are empt...

Re: First ever lunar the silver star 100% run completed...but IS it 100%?!

The chests don't have individual messages when they're opened. The map file for each area has one line " RECEIVED" and when you open a chest it displays the item name and adds that text to the end. And the name of the item isn't in the same file; it'd be an index number that would be looke...
