Re: Dragon Quest IX

best localizations A question - has anyone else noticed a few irregularities in the translations of this one? It's nothing like typos, but little instances where I feel like something's off. Idioms where they use "minute" instead of "moment," things like that? Otherwise, it's st...

Re: Dragon Quest IX

What is it like? I've never played a dragon quest game. I'm thinking about getting it, but i don't really know much about it. Pretty much what the others said. Take an RPG, remove all the angst, then fill with charming adorable goodness. Toss in traditional gameplay concepts, an excellent soundtrac...

Re: Anyone here want to play anything with me?

On PSN I'm Vyse of Arcadia. (Or VyseofArcadia. I don't remember if it had spaces or not.) That's also my Steam ID. I'm at my mom's house right now, but I'll look up my Brawl friend code when I get back to my apartment. I don't play online games very often, though. Brawl occasionally, with some Littl...

Re: Dragon Quest IX

I got it yesterday. I'm really enjoying it. It's way too easy though for a Dragon Quest game. Maybe I should release a character from my party... That was the case with the other DS Dragon Quests. They started out stupid easy and then got progressively harder until they were back to NES-level diffi...

Re: Dragon Quest IX

If it isn't in my mailbox this afternoon I will be very unhappy. I'd better have it by Thursday, at least. I've 4 hours in a car to look forward to.

I've gotta stop preordering stuff from Amazon.

Re: Valkyria Chronicles II

Lots of series do that and have been for a while. It's annoying. And expensive.

I will be purchasing, but not day one unless they offer some cool preorder bonus. Truth be told, I'm still working on the first game.

Re: What Are You Currently Playing?

A friend of mine and I got to talking about RPGs, and I sent him home with my copy of Persona 3. I think he'll enjoy the hell outta it. Another friend of mine came over and we spent the evening beating the crap out of each other in Melty Blood. The game is quickly finding a place in my heart, right ...

Re: What Are You Currently Playing?

Gamefly just sent me Killer7. In a word, trippy. In two words, super trippy. Still, it's fun in an adventure game meets an on-rails shooter kinda way. Gamefly also just shipped Sin and Punishment: Star Successor, so I'll be playing that in a few days. In the mean time, I'd like to put a few more hou...

Re: Ni no Kuni: The Another World - Studio Ghibli for PS3 and DS

Ni no Kuni is more or less confirmed for a US release. Excuse me, I need to go w00t. Also, I read about an interesting gameplay mechanic in Nintendo Power. Apparently the game is going to come with a book full of runes, and to do various things in the game you'll need to draw these runes on the DS....

^I was under the impression that it was just a game, and that the animation scene was done for the DS version.

Re: What Are You Currently Playing?

I'm playing Grandia for the first time!! I'm about 11 years late!! xD (Sorry, just had to share my excitement. :B) Congrats! It's fantastic! I mean, liked it enough to put up with Justin's VA for 65 hours. The rest are decent, at least. Enjoying it so far? How far have you gotten? I've been playing...

Re: Song of the moment

Mountain Mirrors' self-titled album. Go ahead and click the link! You can listen to the whole album there, thanks to the magic of Magnatune being not evil. Excellent Pink Floyd-esque band. They just have the right atmosphere, the musicianship, the song structures... I mean, if someone had released ...

Re: Book of the Moment

It's actually been a while, too long in fact, since I had the time to sit down and read a novel. Maybe later this week. My last read, though, was Neal Stephenson's Anathem , which I quite enjoyed. I love the premise, and it's the first book I've read that I'd describe as an astronomy thriller. Sure,...

Re: Dir en Grey

I can't say I'm much of a fan. I haven't heard too much of their stuff, but what I have heard is a little too... not quite "goth" but close. When it comes to j-rock, I much prefer the cheerful, upbeat stylings of the Pillows.

Re: Heart issues?

I had a test on my head a few months ago. It was one like the chest test they gave me. With the sticking wires on. ._. I think it was an "E" something. Also they checked my thyroid multiple times and didn't see anything wrong. An EEG, I believe it's called. Just to clarify, I do believe C...

Re: Heart issues?

An EEG, I believe it's called. EEG is "electroencephalogram," which monitors brainwaves. I believe you're looking for EKG, or "electrocardiogram." I dunno why there's a K instead of a C, but that's how it goes. I'm good with acronyms! Heart business is serious business. I've had...

Re: Ni no Kuni: The Another World - Studio Ghibli for PS3 and DS

Very want. I will import this if it doesn't hit the US. But it probably will, Ghibli is pretty popular in the right circles.

I hope they don't do the whole PS3 game cel-shaded. I'd love for them to leave in some of the hand-drawn animation.
