Re: Vile tribe
Eh, "demonic transformation ability" seems a lot more like a gameplay thing to me. Final boss, after all. And having camaraderie doesn't mean that the monsters are less monstrous. They're unambiguously evil in TSS, and the confinement is clearly because they did something to require it, n...

Re: Who is your favorite?
TSS: Ghaleon cause I love John Truitt's and Rokuro Naya's voice acting for him, even though he was over the top theatrically insane, he still had many redeeming qualities. Also Xenobia cause she legitimately wanted to help the Vile Tribe there; she's also a crush of mine. Plus they're both fabulous ...

Re: Vile tribe
The most literal translation of "Mazoku" is "magic race", it seems, but WD probably went with Vile Tribe because they were pretty unambiguously monsters/evil in TSS. The moral ambiguity about them didn't come up until later games. I really don't care for "Vile Tribe" f...

Re: Vile tribe
Vile Tribe is a translation of Mazoku. The Vile Tribe had multiple factions: 500 years before TSS, Xenobia's ancestors were banished to the frontier for trying to conquer Lunar (they are long lived so I guess it's *possible* Xenobia herself was the leader then too, but something tells me she wasn't ...

Yes but does it have Silver Star Story and Eternal Blue? https://www.polygon.com/platform/amp/2018/10/29/18037502/playstation-classic-game-list-final-metal-gear-grand-theft-auto-final-fantasy The results are in, and save for potential hacking in of more games, nope! Save for FF7 it's a pretty meh l...

Oh dear. I am extremely for your loss! Perhaps ebay has some doubles if you want to ever replay the games, although the memories and potentially save files cannot transfer sadly.

Playstation 1/2 HDMI adapter
https://www.poundtechnology.com/playstation2/ I'm more excited about this than the PS Classic mini honestly, cause my whole library and analog controllers will work. The slimline PS1/2 models were compact enough for me. I should mention that an external power supply is needed BUT it's a just a USB c...

Re: Four heros
Ghaleon was the last member of the Vane Mazoku/Vile Tribe, so he was never smuggled out of the frontier, he was born in Vane. This is gone into in the Vane Airship manga, but the Vane Mazoku were similar to the frontier Mazoku (casting magic without an incantation, some like Latona even had the geom...

Re: An anomaly in the Lunar series
Another thing: This has been discussed before, but Borgan and Lunn should not have been been forgiven in Lunar 2 considering how they owned slaves, and were basically saving their own hides. BUT Ghaleon, Xenobia and the Vile Tribe at large own human slaves in TSS, and they get killed by the party? T...

Re: Playstation Classic Edition!
If it's anything like the SNES classic it will be easy to hack more games into. Too early to tell. I'm not a fan of the analog-less controllers.

Re: What Are You Currently Playing?
Just beat FF7 for the first time. Loved it. I'm glad people are still getting into the original FF7. It's sadly gotten labeled as overrated in recent years, but this is the fault of the Complication (misspelling intentional) and some segments of the the fanbase IMO. The game deals with ecology and ...

Re: What Are You Currently Playing?
I finished the Revolutionary Girl Utena Sega Saturn game. For a game based on an anime, it was really good, had a lot of feel good and funny moments. It even goes into messing-with-your-mind territory near the end, and gives some backstory for the Black Rose arc not seen in the anime. Creator Kunihi...

Re: Last Anime?
Millennium Actress also by Satoshi Kon... Where Perfect Blue that I earlier listed was a psychological thriller, this one tugged at my emotions, and was a like a flowing history of Japanese cinema. Both were equally surreal and amazing. I'm gonna have to check out Kon's other work, it's a shame he h...

Re: An anomaly in the Lunar series
Yes, I've never liked the "power of humanity" theme in Lunar, but evidently Shigema does. I think it was Rebecca Capowski who commented that he probably insisted on the scene in the third story in the Vheen manga (I don't know why I can't remember their names consistently) where Ghaleon t...

I just happened to be browsing 70's rock on youtube and this was recommended to me:
Granted the tone is more melancholy than that scene, but Vic Ireland may have been aware of it at least.

Re: Questions regarding the series
1.) For clarification, was the cutscene quality between the MPEG version and PC port of Lunar SSS on par with each other, or was one slightly better than the other? 2.) Are the PS1 and MPEG versions largely the same, minus audio and cutscene quality? As in, while some bromides were not in the origi...

Re: An anomaly in the Lunar series
On the less is more topic the biggest gripe I had in the US release (I believe it's similar in JP) of TSS is that sans some ellipses and a few lines of dialogue Alex for the most part is a silent protagonist. There is absolutely nothing inherently wrong with a silent protagonist because in many cas...
