Re: Teen parents.

I figured it would be a bad home life or something. i'm sure that figured it into how she was, if not her immediate reasons. the things her own father printed in memoriam in the -Fatal Hopper- newspaper about her after she died were -Fatal Hopper- awful. the thing is, after 10 years of being jerked...

Re: Teen parents.

well, in my grandfather's case, it was actually quite understandable. but a few things must be understood about his history. first, he was a military man. he flew planes through hurricanes. he saw two wars. he was fiercely independent. he also watched his wife die of cancer about 14 years prior, and...

Re: Teen parents.

PLEASE elaborate. Being the foremost expert on Meg, as I am currently writing her tell-all biography for when she becomes famous. I shall regale you with the Legend of Meagan. THAT WAS ALL TRUE. ALL THAT FOLLOWS IS FALSE. it was actually more than a year, for one. and this is going to be hella long...

Re: Teen parents.

I'm glad you made that last post. A previous one seemed to imply that you feel frustrated that you didn't get boned a lot as a teen. lol Seriously. The only thing we can do is look forward. Living in the past helps nobody. If most of the previous years sucked then you shouldn't have much problem ma...

Re: Teen parents.

doom and gloom, while not teen pregnancy, still falls under false dichotomy. there's lots of different ways to live. and all the kids i know were raised fully cognizant of their choices, instead of shut up and sheltered or lied to have done just fine. the thing is, people are so scared of hurting li...

Re: Teen parents.

the more i read from you, aaron, the more i'm convinced that you just read whatever you want into whatever words happen pass your way. how exactly does "bored and miserable" translate into "a good life"? and, spared what exactly? teen pregnancy? are you inferring that all paths b...

Re: Teen parents.

i lean vegetarian (except where delicious bacon is concerned). curse your stereotype-supporting dietary ways! As a non-bacon-obsessed vegetarian, I protest. :P On a serious note, self control, despite being the answer, is anathema to what modern society and media preaches. dude, in this case, the s...

Re: Teen parents.

Tell your husband that he's emotionally deficient if he can't love and take care of a child that doesn't share part of his genetic makeup. Ask him to put the shoe on the other foot and see how he'd feel if HE were a child that needed to be adopted. sadly, the only man i know who ISN'T emotionally d...

i have a perfect response, but i'm not eager to get banned from l-net. this places censors swearing, i don't imagine they care for gross.

Re: Teen parents.

ah. that's a horse of another color. i dunno, i have kinda mixed thoughts on this one. on the one hand, yes, a child is infinitely better off in the care of a capable and loving adult. on the other, we're vastly understaffed in the "capable and loving adult" department. this issue ties in ...

Re: Teen parents.

over the top. you have to make them want to die without telling them to do so.

on the bright side, you and jenner both have just enough subtlety to do chick tracts.

Re: Gender roles (split from Japanese/English VAs)

@Werefrog and Meg I can completely understand why you find this idea to be so unusual it's not unusual. neither of us finds it unusual, or even compelling. because you're not used to hearing it. we're very used to hearing it. i grew up with rednecks. what color is the sky in your world? But even if...

Re: Gender roles (split from Japanese/English VAs)

What bothers me is I did try to treat him/her with civility and think I did a pretty good job. I just expect such civility to be returned, and it bothers me when it's not. sadly, people like that think they're doing you a favor when they treat you poorly--like they're giving you a life-saving jolt ...

Re: Gender roles (split from Japanese/English VAs)

see what i mean? this is someone who thinks gov't funded social programs are tantamount to theft and murder. when a person's views are that far out, you pretty much have to just agree to disagree, because you have no common ground.

Re: Gender roles (split from Japanese/English VAs)

i wouldn't take ruby too personally, werefrog. it's about what i expect from her. she seems to have a very black and white perception of the world. i mean, how many people do you know, really, who equate the rule of law to being threatened with a gun?

Re: Gender roles (split from Japanese/English VAs)

Lol. No, that would be a good answer and it's what I thought you would say. I certainly think it's a worthwile effort, so long as you resign yourself to the fact that ultimately you can't control the way other people act so there's always going to be people, even large groups of people, who never c...

Re: Gender roles (split from Japanese/English VAs)

government. crying yet? in all seriousness though, in my opinion, the easiest route to eventual equality is just making sure the kids grow up without the influence of racism/sexism/etc, and with the awareness of what exactly constitutes these things. the older generations (behold my sweeping general...

Re: Gender roles (split from Japanese/English VAs)

Does that mean you would be fine with people looking down on you as long as your treated the same way economically? and, going back to my point regarding the above statement. Read this article: " The study found that women were far more likely to suffer minimum wage violations than men, with t...

Re: Gender roles (split from Japanese/English VAs)

I'm the only one offering counter arguments. Everyone else is agreeing with each other. Please don't beat around the bush. Just call me out. as you wish. but you should know that you, specifically, aren't the only one i'm addressing. i don't know you, specifically. you, specifically, are just some b...
