Re: Overly formal language is overly formal...

Maybe if they hadn't picked that tall, narrow font... :P The Japanese version was the same way, BTW, but its script is so similar to SSS that I figured that the formatting was still tailored for SS/PS resolution. Bummer. I'd like to see how this stuff works. Too bad I don't work at a game company a...

Re: Overly formal language is overly formal...

Kizyr is right about space limitations for text. SSH on PSP has a restriction on text limits so certain alterations had to be made to get the same point across compared to the previous remake on a console. This has made me wonder with SSH though. It looks as though there is only text on like half o...

Re: Why do the remakes keep getting easier?

I hope I'm not the only one annoyed with this. While some developers add challenge and (difficult) content to their games, GameArts(or whoever they pawn Lunar off on) continue to make each Lunar remake easier. The Sega CD games: huge world maps, random battles, difficult boss fights, vast dungeons....

Re: So, the Orb Bangle ...

The fact of the matter is, things just make more sense in the Xseed version. This is not an opinion, this is a fact. As MaroonChan said, not a fact. They may make more sense to you. They may not to be. Because of the difference, it's an opinion. I do not see how you can accuse Alunissage of being a...

Shiva Indis wrote:The last Lunar 1 remake sold about 200k on Saturn, and WD reported selling about 200k in the US as well. For SSH, numbers like that are pretty unattainable, but 100k could happen. And it'd be awesome.
Wow! 200,000 copies each for the Saturn and WD Lunars? That's incredible!

http://vgchartz.com/games/game.php?id=34467&region=All if vgchartz is reliable... lunar has 90k sales as of this moment for all regions... 42k for its first week and 17k for its second week... i wander if psn downloads are already added on the sales... looks like lunar ssh is gearing for a 100k...

Re: So, the Orb Bangle ...

That's a highly subjective response, though. There have been many, many gamers who thought that WD's version of the boat song made perfect sense and fit very well. The Korean PC release actually uses WD's versions of the two vocal songs rather than re-recording them or even using the Japanese songs...

The same thing goes with "cyclops" over "monocrop" (what the heck is that???) and "evil cyclops" over "kyclops" (again, what the heck is that???). ... I just TOLD you "what the heck was that." Can't you read? アンモナー = [anmonaa] => Ammonia (WD), Nauti...

Re: So, the Orb Bangle ...

Nice research but one thing that we need to point out is that 七星の腕輪 and スターブレス are not one and the same, hence the different names. Also, Lunar Legend was developed my Media Rings Corporation and not Game Arts so we can't expect that they are the same either. In fact, the story of Lunar Legend play...

Re: So, the Orb Bangle ...

D'oh! No, the first comment of mine you quoted was not directed at you. I found your post interesting too; I'm always curious about stuff like that. And, like you, I like some versions of some names better than others, and it doesn't matter much to me who came up with what. I generally don't have m...

Re: Final Fantasy XIII

Alright, thanks everyone. I appreciate the in-depth descriptions of the game. ^_^ I decided after reading what everyone has said it may not be worth $60. I'll wait until it's cheaper and then try it, or borrow it from my friend who has it. I don't want to waste money on something I may not like. It...

Re: Final Fantasy XIII

The characters (while very nice looking thanks to Tetsuya Nomura) are a total drag and everything about them is cliche. Nomura's character designs are anything but nice. Outlandish and at the same time generic, I think they could be best described as annoying. He tones down his costumes for FF at l...

Re: Final Fantasy XIII

Huh, interesting. It seems like a majority of the people here are enjoying FFXIII and have positive things to say about it. Other places I've been, I've heard NOTHING but negatives about the game. Since I heard nothing but negatives, and given the fact I lost all hope in FF to begin with, I just de...

Re: So, the Orb Bangle ...

And yet another edit to get back to the other topic: As noted in the original post quoted above, WD called the item in question the Stone Bracelet, while XSEED called it Pleiades Bangle. Would any of the Japanese-enabled multilinguals here care to translate the original name 魔眼石の腕輪 ? Is the XSEED n...

Re: So, the Orb Bangle ...

Detonator Armlet That name isn't random, you know. It's a reference to the game WD released before EBC, whose working title was Detonator Gauntlet. However, the name ended up being changed to Vanguard Bandits, so the Detonator Armlet item name became an in-joke. I haven't had time yet to go through...

Re: So, the Orb Bangle ...

These new names are the original names from Japanese so that is why there is such a big change. WD just did whatever the heck they wanted for the names before. I'm glad that Xseed fixed these as well. They definitely sound a lot better in English too having the original names. It kind of makes me wo...

Now I just feel completely unlucky. ;_; As for what they touched, most of it was highly inconsequential. You can quibble about minor things like the Azure City of Althena, the Ghoto Woods, and Honmel Isle, but in the end, it doesn't make the game any less enjoyable, so I don't really see the argume...

For "let's ride forgotten", you have to read it in context with the rest of the stanza. It means that they'll be forgotten by the passing of time as they venture into the faraway horizon, I imagine. As for which version is "better", I suppose it mostly comes down to personal pre...

Re: Overly formal language is overly formal...

When you compare the song translations, Xseed's are vastly superior in the fact that they tell a story and add to the experience where WD's versions subtract from the experience. Luna's new boat song trumps the other translations in every aspect. For me, SSH is by far the definitive version of this ...
