Nice, Barua! If I've ever seen her in fanart before it's certainly been a while!

Re: Mega CD Lunar Eternal Blue (Not For Resale) Demo
I remember poking around a rom of this once - besides the portraits, some of the music used in the background isn't in the final game, but you can hear it on the Prelude drama CD. There wasn't much low-hanging fruit for non-tech person like me, but I bet there are some interesting things under the h...

Re: Japanese name/reference for Magic Tester?
I know of a reference in TSS, and which is retained in English. The Vane Magic School honor roll is made up of references to TV witch characters. Westerners may recognize Samantha of Bewitched, which was a hit in Japan and a forerunner to the magical girl genre. Most of the others are the title char...

Lost Song Reminded Me of Lunar
I stumbled across this promotional image and was strongly reminded of artwork for Silver Star Harmony. https://static.next-episode.net/tv-shows-images/huge/lost-song.jpg I watched a bit of it, and that planet in the sky? It appears in backgrounds in the show for some fantasy flair (to the best of my...

I really like this. I don't know if a folk-art vibe was what you were going for, but it grabbed my attention. Xenobia is extra-busty here, isn't she?

Re: My Lunar Ocarina (WIP)
That looks great! A lot about the design in the animations is pretty nonstandard, I'm sure - my (limited) understanding is that the general instrument shape can vary a lot, but triangle holes just sounds like a being weird for its own sake.
I hope you'll keep us apprised of your progress!

Re: What Anime do you like
I used to be obsessed with anime growing up, but i slowly started to lose my interest because of the amount of unneeded fan service. There were other reasons as well, but now i only watch a small select few when I am in the mood...As for sitting down and checking out new animes...Sadly my spark is ...

Re: If you are struggling with the Gynephobia and Pure Odio bosses in Live-A-Live I have a solution
Thanks for the tips! I did a test run against the final boss, died, did some grinding in the character dungeons...and then never went back for a rematch. This is a unique and noteworthy game and I really should see it through to the end. Which chapter did you like best? I have to give a lot of props...

I have a hunch that some of this is a form of actor allusion. Do you direct Mamma Mia if you aren't, in fact, interested in ABBA?Sonic# wrote:Camp

I'm looking over the beginning of my notes on SSSC (a 236-page document and I think it only goes up to, like, Lann) and found the quote of Alex's father about going with Dyne: Wow, supposing that is about 1/8 of the game content, if your notes were published it would take multiple volumes. I'm impr...

Re: What Are You Currently Playing?
I finished the Revolutionary Girl Utena Sega Saturn game. For a game based on an anime, it was really good, had a lot of feel good and funny moments. It even goes into messing-with-your-mind territory near the end, and gives some backstory for the Black Rose arc not seen in the anime. Creator Kunih...

Re: An anomaly in the Lunar series
Hey, some of that is familiar after going through those short stories Hosoe wrote around the same time those novelizations were published. Her take on Fake Althena is particularly sympathetic. I translated a couple of her shorts in 2009 -- how the time flies. http://lunarthreads.com/viewtopic.php?f=...

Re: Questions regarding the series
So what I'm gathering is that there is currently no known definitive answer, but it is most likely a combination of something legal and because the music of TSS overall doesn't match the tone of SSS. (Playing the second overworld theme from TSS over footage of SSS's world map definitely makes this ...

Re: Hajime Sato's Storyboards
Hey, I was doing some research on Sato recently! His work for Lunar is so imaginative and every so often I wonder what he's been up to. Following his career is a bit tricky; a lot of Japanese people have the name Hajime Sato. Sato worked on another Game Arts game, Alisia Dragoon, before working on L...

Agreed.Imperial Knight wrote:I generally think the concept of canon as what actually happened is overemphasized by fans of most fictional works.
But what if I told you that my Lunar 1 canon of choice is the novelizations, in which Kyle is a pirate captain with his own Dragonship?

Live A Live!
I wish I had played this game sooner, and I wish there were more games like it. I read that old-timers in Japan think of it as the predecessor to Chrono Trigger, and it does have the same sort of thematic everything-and-the-kitchen-sink vibe.
