Re: A few updates on our lives

Likewise Alun. Always a pleasure. It was a strange thing that brought me back this evening. I settled in to research some oral histories and Lunar-Net just popped into my head, totally unprovoked. I figured I had a few minutes to spare, and I came by. I believe this is the first time I have been to ...

Re: A few updates on our lives

How time passes, and lives develop. Congratulations to the both of you. Marriage is a wonderful thing (married one and a half years, myself) and I wish you both nothing but love, humility and constant remembrances of what brought you together. I hope you had a wonderful time on your honeymoon. Life....

Re: Free Health Care for everyone!

Hmmm, does that mean discounts on healthy things like tea or fitness classes or massages? Honestly that's a big part of the bill I found to be quite lacking. It's all well and good to respond to a problem, but this bill is fundamentally reactionary and does little to encourage good behavior on the ...

Re: Free Health Care for everyone!

I like your style WD. It basically comes down to knowing the facts rather than falling for the sugary promises or barbed, yet empty rhetoric. I'm in a similar position that I don't know what to think of the bill yet. Both sides are so full of crap when it comes to explaining what the reforms are act...

Re: Anyone here have a tattoo?

I got an Icon of Saint John Chrysostom done last year. It's my first though I may get Saint Athanasius done on the other side at some point. But I try not to get into something so permanent without careful consideration. The one I got was after 7 years of thinking and planning. http://img509.imagesh...

Re: Nice knowing you, America.

As for carrying a weapon to a demonstration, why does the right of the carrier override the right of the demonstrators and speaker to feel safe? Carrying and displaying a weapon at a politically charged scene seems like a pretty implicit threat to me. Where does the line get to be drawn in "ne...

Re: Nice knowing you, America.

Let me say that I have no political affiliation. I don't vote, and do not understand any who truly believe real change lies within the slave-like confines of the wretched two-party representative democracy. Let alone a political system of any kind. First off, don't act like tyranny, oppression, use ...

This should in no way be surprising. Disney has been expanding its media empire for quite a while now. They're one of several sinners in regard to the monopolization of media. http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/List_of_assets_owned_by_Disney Highlights: Touchstone Pictures Miramax Films Dreamworks ABC, In...

So I just finished the first season of The Wire.

Yes, I know it took me long enough. But I refuse to pay for television when most channels still show commercials and I had about 100 other in front of it on Netflix. Anyway, what an amazing show. It provides such an engaging and human portrayal of the streets (real or not, I can't say as I've thankf...

Your favorite Artists.

All media accepted: painting, drawing, sculpture, prints, ceramic, architecture, photography, fiber, video etc. There will be no artistic hierarchy here! I think, my all time favorite painter is Rene Magritte. The man had such a brilliant mind when it came to his compositions. I mean look at "T...

Any of you crazy kids play Team Fortress 2?

I arrived pretty late to the party for this one (such is always the case), but I've been having a great time with it the past few weeks. I was wondering if anyone else has played or currently plays it.

Re: Musical Rut

I had a musician friend who wanted to write some music, as he had just been recording people and not doing much composing himself and when he hit a creative wall he would just roll 2 dice to figure out the time signature and the tempo (number rolled multiplied by 10), I think the favorite he ever ro...

Re: The World's Cleverest Bird!

Yeah, I heard about that too. Birds are really smart for animals with such small brains. Makes me wonder what dinosaurs were really like. Eh, I think the Human has vastly underestimated the intelligence of animals for a long time. A large contributing factor is that we so often attempt to humanize ...

You mean you remember everything that happened in the days of your youth but not whether you've had lunch? Who are you people? And where's my soup!? Hah, you just made my day!

It's not every day I see someone who likes Mr. Bungle, in my opinion, one of the all-time great musical acts for their creativity and raw ability. My favorite of their three full-length albums is definitely "Disco Volante", though the others are almost as good.

That's a real shame you have to deal with a problem like this through no fault of your own. I really hope all works outs and you can still enjoy your trip. Mondo Cane (Band).

Mike Patton (ex. Faith No More) has recorded some amazing renditions of 50's, 60's and 70's Italian pop tunes with like a 30 piece orchestra and is going to be releasing it at some point, hopefully this year as a project called "Mondo Cane". It's really amazing music and Patton's vocals ar...

Ah, things are well, at least for now. Well, outside of work at least. :) I'm still doing school and am preparing to move back out on my own. That concept is pretty frightening, really. Wonderful. I've long since forgotten, what's your major, and how far along are you in school? Holy -Dragon Diamon...
