Re: What Are You Currently Playing?
You said HD remake, so I was assuming that you meant some sort of enhancement. But really, the only thing I could see it showing up on is 3DS.

Re: Finally finished this, mini-review/comparison
Yes, that's one of the things WD added. It costs 15x Hiro's level to save. Not a big deal after like the first few hours of the game, since battles generally yielded far more M Exp than that, but it really bothered some people. The game started you with 30 M (the Japanese game starts with 0) so you ...

Re: What Are You Currently Playing?
Well, that's the thing. With two more advanced versions of Lunar 1 already existing, it's unlikely that anyone would bother re-releasing this one, since even phones can run SSSC just fine. Why bother enhancing this one? I mean, I like the change of pace of the different scenes and that Alex and Nash...

Re: Pentagulia's destruction
Well... there's the Destruction of the Blue Star flashback, where people are shown as having turned into monsters by Zophar's corruption. I... kinda think that some of the monstrous people themselves were begging Althena for help? I mean, it wasn't just the wholeheartedly evil people that had become...

Re: Finally finished this, mini-review/comparison
Really? I'm not sure I ever heard that. But I came to gaming fandom relatively late (first going online in 1999), and never did comprehend actually returning a game (or book, or other entertainment), so it wouldn't have occurred to me. I could see it in the case of non-RPGs, since Vic really likes s...

Re: Finally finished this, mini-review/comparison
Possibly the hack maintained WD's difficulty for Borgan, then (since a running theme to some complaints seems to be that WD made things too hard, not just that they changed things, so I figure the complainers want things to be easy). Because when I played it in Japanese I remember things like him ca...

Re: Pentagulia's destruction
Yeah, the abandonment is what I meant by evacuated. Not bloody likely that Zophar or anyone else in power there would be interested in saving lives. And yeah, we know Mauri was drugged and brainwashed, and that she then did the same to others, who would basically be innocents. So how do you tell whe...

Re: Finally finished this, mini-review/comparison
WD has caught flak over the years for upping the difficulty in their games, but Borgan is actually easier in their version than in the original Japanese MegaCD game. Seriously. I think in both games it was Ronfar's Light Litany that I found the most useful, since it both does a decent amount of dama...

Re: What Are You Currently Playing?
Lunar Legend. Feeling a bit wistful that there's probably no reason for this particular version of Lunar 1 ever to get re-released, because it has a few things in it that other versions don't -- like Alex actually saying stuff in the parts of the game that are unique to this version, and Nash showin...

Re: Pentagulia's destruction
Yeah, it bothered me a bit too, especially when the Destiny catches up and there are basically zombies there...I think? It's been quite a while since I played that part in either version. I'm going to choose to believe that Pentagulia was evacuated when the barrier was put up. Though I think there w...

Re: Sleeping passengers on Hispaniola
Thanks. There are a couple of oddities in SSST that seem to be weird porting artifacts, but I just could not remember this one at all. It’s been quite a few years since I played SSSC, and I wasn’t writing down much dialogue then. Though come to think of it, I would’ve been playing it on the PS2 or 3...

Re: Finally finished this, mini-review/comparison
I loved the M Exp, myself. Was pretty disappointed when the remake just had spells morph on their own to become more expensive. I also liked how Lucia had a lot more spells, mostly pretty cool-looking, in the original. Much preferred the inventory management in the remake, though.

Re: My "fiance" is now my wife finally! We got married!
Congratulations! On both the marriage and the puppy.
My husband and I bought a king-sized bed as our wedding present to ourselves. It was the right move, because we almost always have 2-5 cats on it at night.

Sleeping passengers on Hispaniola
Anyone remember offhand if it's possible to talk to the sleeping passengers and sailors (and hear them sleeptalking) on the Hispaniola, just before going up on deck to see the Boat Song? It isn't in the iOS version, but there's Japanese text for them, so I was wondering if either SSSC or SSS (Japane...

Re: Vile tribe
I *think* Lucia's lips also move in EB when she's about to cast magic -- although her AI can also change at the time and have her run off if everyone else has been knocked out before it's her turn. At least, I'm pretty sure I recall this happening, probably in the Illusion Woods. I think that might ...

Yeah, it was weird logging in and getting 267 notifications of attempted registrations. I figured you'd deal with it, so I ignored it.
Thanks.

Re: Merry Christmas!
I don't celebrate it, but I had a very pleasant day. My husband is visiting his family, so it's just me and the cats right now. But he and I had a video chat where I got to say hi to my inlaws and be amused by the lunch preparations involving my BIL's Instant Pot that somehow cost four dollars. Late...

Re: Is Mystere a separate character from Leo?
I'll never forget that moment in Vay where my housemate, who had previously introduced me to the RPG genre when we played TSS together, said, "So let me get this straight. Luna is really the Goddess Althena...?" Seriously, playing Vay just after TSS was...something.
