Re: Question about packaging.

To be honest, the SSSC map is nicer in concept than reality, because it's actually the TSS map and thus is not useful for SSSC -- the Temple of Althena is in a different location. But it's a color cloth map, so there's that. It only shows the first three towns by name and is more for atmosphere than...

Re: Saturn translation [in progress!]

The Saturn versions of SSS and EB are functionally identical to the PS ones we played except for fewer bromides and dungeons (in EB). But the music sounds much better. There are lists of differences on the main site, but they're mainly focused on translation differences rather than Saturn/PSX differ...

Re: In defense of Lunar: Legend...

I've replayed the beginning of LL relatively recently, up to Meribia or so, and I think it actually shows more character depth than any of the other versions of Lunar 1, at least in that part. Some examples: - Both Nash and Alex take the White Dragon Trial, which is some questions posed to them indi...

Re: What Are You Currently Playing?

Cadence of Hyrule, on and off. It's a pretty short game, but since it's randomly generated, there's some replay value to it. I want to try the two-player mode, but my husband has been pretty busy so I haven't asked him.

Re: What Are You Currently Playing?

Back to Valkyria Chronicles 2. Needed something I could play in small chunks without too much external note-taking and such while I had a very intense crunch week at work. Hoping to get back to Lunar 1 this weekend...

Wow, that's very imaginative.

I'm trying to tell if the face on the book is anyone in particular...?

Re: What Are You Currently Playing?

Replaying SSH for the first time since it came out. Had totally forgotten that there's an added scene of Luna and Ghaleon talking about music, just after meeting Ghaleon for the first time.

Re: In This Thread I Explain Why This Game Isn't Canon.

The twin Dragonmasters are variously called Asty and Liza, Alicia and Lina, and Alicia and Laticia. Loka (Gaull) was a different one (though the Blue Dragon in SSS refers to Loka and Lina, changed to Alicia and Laticia in SSSC). The book is in the Vane Library in SSS/SSH. I want to play as a Beastwo...

Re: In-world sequels and myth building

Huh. I've always meant to try Dragon Quest, in that mythical time when I have time to pick up a new-to-me RPG series. Right now, I think I'll be playing Lunar 1 for the rest of my life. :P I have Dragon Warrior for NES, DQ V-VI for Super Famicom, and I hink DQ8 for whatever it came out on, but I've ...

Re: Ideal April Fool's...

I agree with all of Sonic#'s comments. The one instance of a pregnancy joke I recall finding really funny (okay, aside from Kizyr and Jenner's one on here some years ago) was when my grandfather called my mom and said "I don't know how to tell you this, but your mother is pregnant." (My gr...

Re: Hello everyone!

As Kizyr said, it's pretty cool to have another member who started the series with the SegaCD games! I'm kind of the most conspicuous merchandise collector here, probably, though I don't get much new stuff these days because there isn't much left. I do have duplicates of a few of the Japanese games ...

Re: Lunar SSS / SSSC Status & Translator Request?

Okay, cool! I'm glad there's time, because I'm also playing through the games and transcribing text manually that takes some time. Do you mind emailing me the .csv and menu files, to my username at gmail? (I don't check that account unless I'm expecting an email, so any other communication that's pr...

Re: Lunar SSS / SSSC Status & Translator Request?

I would very much like to rewrite the dialogue a bit -- not tons, as I like the WD translation (and parts of the LL and SSH translations), and mainly want to fix things that don't quite match up with what's going on or established personalities. And minor errors. As it happens, I already have a scri...

So, I've verified that in SSH it is possible to talk to the sleeping passengers and crew also. So probably it's a weird SSST artifact.

Re: GHALEON DID NOTHING WRONG

TBH, I didn't really read the "out of the closet" comment as meaning anything but "his secret identity is now revealed", expressed flippantly. Of course, I tend to be oblivious and/or forgiving of a lot, and I have no personal reason to be sensitive to the phrasing, so it strikes...

Re: The Goddess Althena is Cancelled!

Yep. I've always thought of her as being a goddess relative to everyone else , not a omnipotent/omniscient/etc perfect deity. That's part of why the letter addressing Hiro by name in EB irks me, because that precision future-seeing seemed out of scale with her powers and judgment. I can just barely ...

Re: GHALEON DID NOTHING WRONG

Yeah, troubled is the right word. It's also worth nothing that probably none of the people involved in making the game were thinking of it as being a work that would still be discussed decades later rather than what would be good for a laugh and serve the purpose for the short period of time before ...

Re: In This Thread I Explain Why This Game Isn't Canon.

I read through that bit of dialogue of Peres's after I posted that, so yeah, I was probably wrong there. I don't 100% cede this because there are other translation oddities, plus "in such a way" is so strangely specific that it almost implies the opposite. Like, that he's trying to hide so...

Re: GHALEON DID NOTHING WRONG

Ugh, there is so much about all of that that I hate. The idea that orientation is coded by certain styles, vocal tics, behaviors, when it should be completely irrelevant. Clothing preferences have nothing to do with private preferences. Hobbies have nothing to do with gender, orientation, morality (...
