Re: What Are You Currently Playing?

MaroonChan, that's at least the fourth time in a row you've been playing that game. What's going on?

Still playing Avernum 3. I'm just over halfway through now, judging by the map.

On a whim I also got the tabletop game Dairyman. It's a quick little die-rolling game like Farkle.

Re: What is a good job?

Regarding jobs, it's useful to keep in mind that any field will probably demand some hard skills and some soft skills, and hiring managers like that you have at least one of a few soft skills or qualities: communication, leadership, analysis, integrity, and responsibility. (Those are also useful for...

Re: What Are You Currently Playing?

I finally finished XC2. It was a good game, though I realized while playing it that I'd be happier with fewer cutscenes or cutscenes that were more varied in their film-making approaches. The heavy reliance on cutscenes towards the end made me wish I were playing the game that had been fun up to the...

Re: I visit this site once and a while because...

I'd say it's toxic to make a post where you attack other members of the forum, representing others as "fringe" and in a "bubble" or "clique." That's a kind of passive aggression that's equivalent to a person claiming they want no drama but then causing drama in how they...

^ lol, okay, Yoda's a good counterpoint there. In Episode 5 Luke describes looking for a "great warrior" - he rejects Yoda not because he's green or alien but because he's small. I'll have to think about that.

Re: What are your thoughts on Star Wars: The Last Jedi (WARNING! SPOILERS DISCUSSED HERE!)

Honestly, I don't know why Holdo didn't just airlock him for that. That would feel more new-era Battlestar Galactica than Star Wars , though I guess we already had a renegade fleet fleeing some Cylon-equivalents. To say the least, if this were a TV series I'd expect the repercussions of Poe's actio...

Re: What are your thoughts on Star Wars: The Last Jedi (WARNING! SPOILERS DISCUSSED HERE!)

Overall I really enjoyed the film. A test for whether a film sticks with me is whether I keep thinking about it. I did more than think about it: I have a 6000 word (and counting) document where I analyze what's going on with the film. It's mainly for my own benefit, but I'll post it if people are in...

Re: What Are You Currently Playing?

I bought Xenoblade Chronicles 2 on opening day, due in large part to the reviews (positive and negative) claiming it was similar to the first one. So far it's been what I was hoping for: a beautiful open world free to explore, characters who are appealing sometimes because of (Jin) and sometimes des...

Re: Saturn translation [in progress!]

It's funny how much is noticeable only once one sits down to edit the material. Don't have much to say except that all this sounds awesome. Oh: I won't be using any of the gameplay changes Working Designs made. All of the gameplay, including the difficulty level and chest placement, will be the same...

Re: What Are You Currently Playing?

I bought a Switch for my birthday and in preparation for Xenoblade Chronicles 2. I'm playing Stardew Valley (again - the portability + new map makes the game feel new again) and may get Golf Story soon. Haven't done much otherwise because of being so busy. Trails in the Sky SC has taken a bit of my ...

Re: Is Mystere a separate character from Leo?

They are the same character. Leo couldn't bring himself to show his true face to the heroes after his sense of justice was revealed to be wrong. He was ashamed after finding out he had been working for the wrong side. That explains why Leo went away. It doesn't explain where Mystere came from. Even...

Re: Is Mystere a separate character from Leo?

That's like asking whether Luna is the same character as Fresca. Obviously not, superficial similarities in appearance and the fact they never appear side-by-side together aside.

Re: TSS: Save State Hacking, Debug Mode, and Level Data

^ It almost sounds like there's some randomization or hidden operations for the stats, and that it's less than would happen in Fire Emblem. Maybe it all happens in the early game? Otherwise, I find it hard to imagine the difference of 1 max HP is intentional.

Re: What Are You Currently Playing?

I'm still playing Witcher III. I'm finally making good headway on the story. I also still return sometimes to Dragon Quest VII. I've been playing some Elite: Dangerous with friends. Favorite activity? Flying a luxury liner and transporting people who don't like being scanned. I get to go into silent...

Re: What did you like about the GameCube?

The Gamecube was a lot of fun. It was physically the most distinct system out there: small, cube-like, with controllers that didn't have four evenly-shaped and spaced right buttons. What did I like? The games. I played more PS2 games by virtue of it having more JRPGs, but I still would return to the...

I whipped this up. I remember that strategy guide being on sale in stores and being baffled by the different art style. Thankfully I had the sense to pick up an official one.

Re: In-world sequels and myth building

Thanks for the responses. ...come to think of it, I'm not sure if there are very many game series I've even played that could fall into this category... That's one reason why I asked. It seemed like something video games can do very well design-wise, though there might be market limitations against ...
